What will be a good brake upgrade from the single piston stock on 04 GP GT2 with 235x55x17" tires & rims?
(1) I would like to upgrade calipers, rotors, pads, proberly brakelines...
(2) Should I just do just the fronts ? or do the rears also ?
(3) What type of upgrade are most of you using for this 04 GPs..
(4) Are they any issues to watch out for...?

same as above i recommend hawk or ebc brakes pads cermaic of course cause brake dust is ugly lol, change em both, only problems i would say look out for ate don't let the caliper hang from the hose cause that will do damage and if you decide to go stanless steel (which will increase firmness from what i have read) make sure you bleed the system correctly, air bubbles = using a wall to stop

06+ Impala dual piston front calipers and 12" rotors are also a direct bolt on.

Impala brakes are just like F body's but are cast iron instead of aluminum, can clear 16" wheels, dual pistons, 12" direct bolt on, cheap swap since all 06+ Impala's came with them, SS's came with these too, they didn't get the GXP calipers.
GXP calipers are aluminum, require 17"+ wheels, dual pistons, 12.7" direct bolt on, more expensive swap

The GXP swap, especially when paired with the GXP rears, is the better swap, but comes at a price. If you just want a something better than stock without breaking the bank, the 06+ Imp Dual fronts are the way to go.

i noticed a huge improvement in stopping power when i put the F-Body calipers on the front. i also installed Magnum drilled rotors and Hawk pads. it seemed like the seatbelts got a bit of a workout until i learned how to moderate the extra grabbiness. and when ya think about it, brakes are the most important mod to do to a car: all that speed is great until you run over a kid or something cause you cant stop.

it might also be a good idea to check the condition of your brake fluid. it is supposed to be changed out every couple years because it absorbs moisture and loses effectiveness.

Well, you say impala setup wth 12" rotors...i think rotors on 04+ GP are 11.7 stock.
(1) What about 13" upgrade adv on ZZ Perf? Is this a different Impala upgraded from 12" setup that you are taling about on the prv post ?? And would this be overkill for 04 GPGT2...Any body out there running the Imapala 13" setup for the Fronts ?
(2) It looks like I leaniing torward the 12.7 GXP set up for the fronts & proberlay leave the rears alone just change to better stock rotor 7 cermanic pads ?

Waiting for more response and feedback, before I make final decision,, lke to do this in by the New Years....TP

Correct, stock 04+ are 11.69" as opposed to the 11.9" (rounded to 12) of the Impala's, but the Impala's have more pad surface area and more piston force due to 2 pistons vs 1 big one.
As for the ZZP 13" swap. From what I've read, they are just Impala dual piston calipers with different brackets to allow for a 13" rotor. The problem with that is, A) they are charging 310 bucks for calipers that are 1/3 that price and B) there's no readily available 13" rotor to replace them with (at least I haven't found yet what these rotors actually came off of) unless you go back to ZZP to buy them so that sort of puts a monopoly on replacement rotors instead of just being able to run down to your local auto parts store and picking new ones up, unless of course you figure out what vehicle(s) these rotors are actually made for. The other problem is.... it's ZZP so good luck with any customer service from them and pray that they don't mess up and ship you the wrong thing. Wbody store also sells the same kit for the exact same price though.

The GXP's are great and are what most people do, but they are pricey unless you find them used on a forum or ebay, too pricey for my tastes.

IMO, it basically all boils down to how much you want to spend and if you really are actually going to take advantage of the increased braking performance i.e., the biggest brakes in the world can't help you if you don't have tires sticky enough to keep up with them.

Well it looks like the GXP Setup for the fronts but my only issue is will the GXP calipers clear the 17" rims...when I say 17" rims I'm talking about the Replica OEM 17" factory rims the "silver twisted ones" the ones that were an option for 2004 GP that year. Reason I ask is that I heard these GXP calipers will clear some 17" rims but not all maybe that is why ZZP Perf says works with 18" wheels...
(1) My tires are Michlin Primacy MXV4 235x55x17 with OEM 17" RIMS.
(2) If this is issue about clearance with GXP calipers then I need to look at the F-Body setup...
(3) Is anybody out there running GXP fronts setup with 17' twisted OEM alloys on 04 GP...?
(4) The rears just upgrade to better rotor than stock and use my current autozone gold cermanic pads...there wont be any issue here when upgrade the fronts ?.....

Need more input from you guys before I commit....
