Could anyone please tell me if fitting replacement rear stabilizer links is a job that can be done without working under the car or not? What is involved?

My car passed it's annual test this year, but I was advised that there may be a problem with these links soon, as there was a little play in them. Because of my back problem I can't get under the car, so would possibly have to have a mechanic fit them on a lift? I've got the new links, just got to fit them.

I replaced mine while replacing the rear struts; it wasn't that bad of a job, but I had the car on a portable lift at a shop. You would need to jack the car up, and take off the rear wheels. They can usually be removed with hand tools, but if the old links are badly rusted, you might want to have a mechanic install them.

Cheers for your input, it's pretty grim round the existing bars, so will probably have a mechanic take a look. My local garage like working on my car, as they say nothing's too complicated on it, and they wish more cars were built like that! Having a bad time with my back at the moment though, so working under my car is a no-no.

That sucks. Try bribing a friend who knows how to work on cars to do it. Get a 12 pack of beer ;) I'd do it for sure. It's nothing too hard to do.

Get the MOOG ones

they can be changed by jacking each side up, taking the wheels off and there right there. Easy
