Hey guys, so yeah, my parking break is stuck. We never use it, like at all, it's very stiff to try and push down but today... I felt like pushing it. No idea why it was just kinda one of those "oooo a lever... lets push it!" And now it wont come off all the way. I know that you push it to lock it, and then push it some more to get it to release - ive used it before. This time it wont release all the way. Once you think it's coming back up, you hear a little click which means its still locked. I can't get it to come up. I will be on a downward sloped hill with the car in D or N, and it doesn't move, I need to give it a bit a gas.

Is there any type of pin or button you can push to make it release?

FIXED

Just got under the car and lubed up all the joints and such and then took the wheels off and whaled on the breaks, solved my problem!!

Thanks

I don't know why they even put e brakes on automatic cars....it causes more problems ten they do good

Boy I would love to hear your reasoning behind that statement.

Yeah trust me E brake is always a good thing. I mean it cant be good in the long run for the car to roll back on the tranny and make it harder to shift from park when u get back in. plus what if for some reason park doesnt work? Its a good habit to be in. When you park it jab it in, when u leave jab it out. It takes 1 second and it could be the difference between your car rolling away or not.

Agreed. I use my ebrake religiously. Well, I did, but I'm missing a couple brackets on my new calipers yet, gotta get those from the JY then I'll be able to hook em back up.

Put me in the group that always uses the e-brake too. I never had a problem with it either. I started doing it after my dads old 1987 Celebrity failed inspection due to a frozen e-brake cable since he never used it. Since then I used it every day, and never had a single issue with it not working or freezing up. Plus I hate that big clunk getting the car out of park, or the roll back these cars do when ya throw it back in park. I just hate how we have to donkey kick the damn pedal. If only it was a lever up by the shifter.

On the W-body forum there's someone that retrofitted a grand am? ebrake onto their console. I'll have to find the thread again.
