Hey guys....been lurking for awhile learning what I can.

About 6 months ago I found a 2004 GTP CompG with only 30,000 kms on it. I've definitely enjoyed the ride...though it's a stiffer suspension than I had in my 99 300M.

Anyway, I live here in Edmonton, Alberta so I've got winter tires on the factory rims now. I figured I'd break down and get some new rims and rubber for the spring through fall.

Tirerack had a great deal on some 19" Sport Edition KV5s that I think will look good on this car. They were $87 per wheel on clearance. The rubber is another story...

This is what I got:
19x8.5 Sport Edition KV5 Silver
245/40ZR-19 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus

They haven't even arrived yet but now I'm starting to get nervous. I read somewhere that people have had transmission problems with anything over 18" rims. Is that true? Do I have anything to worry about besides the rough ride getting a bit rougher?

I guess the follow-up question is, do I need to make any other adjustments? The tirerack guy said it'll be basically bolt them on and go.

Put my mind at ease if you can...thanks!

basically its a bigger heavier rim so it puts a little more strain on the tranny to turn them and to stop them but as long as your not out mashing on the gas all the time you shouldnt have any problems

You'll be fine, other than having to pay an arm and a leg for those 19 inch tires.
