Is anybody experiencing any noise problems with their W body? I have a 2000 GP GT and im getting a creaking noise in the front end everytime I step on the gas or step on the breaks, it also happens while going over speed bumps and sometimes going around turns. I can actually feel the knocking noise threw the floorboards. I changed all the engine and transmission mounts and tightened the front sub frame and had new struts installed with new springs and all hardware. The car has 220,000 miles on it and want this car to make it 300,000 miles. Everything looks and feels tight and its driving me crazy trying to locate the source of this noise. I was a mechanic for 20 years and never had a problem locating noises like this. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...Tom

Check the front sway bar. They are known to break.

I just changed the sway bar end links and I still have the noise. The sway bar bushings dont look that bad. I am going to post a few pictures of the lower control arms, the bushings in the front of each arm look a little hammered! Does anybody know if worn out control arm bushings could give a thumping noise while accelerating and braking and going over bumps? Well, here are the pictures. Going to post both the left and right side lower control arms and the front bushings will be in both pictures.

Found two new lower control arms for $90.00 each, I believe they are the Dorman brand, do ya think its a good deal?

Good day!

I have this issue on my 04 GTP, but I replaced my LCAs, sway bar, and front end links and now the bushings are poly so they creak like crazy! So that being said, perhaps you can lube the front end link and sway bar bushings a bit and see what happens.

If you don't then you're not driving a w-body.

Did you check the strut mounts? they make all kinds of racket when they crap out, especially under havy braking/acceleration and going over bumps.

The Dorman parts are good replacements. I work for AAP, if you lived close by I'd buy the parts for you :D Sign up for our mailing list and get a coupon for $20 off any purchase of $100 or more every month.
