I decided to replace the tires on my 7.5" Bonneville wheels. They did have 255/45/17s but I wanted something a little bigger to help fill in the wheel gap. I went with 255/50/17s. I wasn't sure if they would fit or not but so far there are no problems with rubbing. I'll keep updating as I learn more. I plan on lowering it with my SSC springs. I'm not sure if they will fit after I lower it. I may have to roll the lips. My other set of tires are 8.5" Enkeis with 245/45/18s. They don't rub now but I'm not sure if they will fit once it's lowered. We'll see how it turns out.

Steven

Steven I don't see why you wanted a bigger diameter tire to fill the wheel gap when you plan on lowering it. Post up some pics of the new tires when you get a chance. What brand are they?

I wanted to get the same size tire when the time comes. Still no problems with rubbing I hope? Has anyone else had this size tire on their '04+? The 225's just aren't wide enough for me. I remember the 285's I had on the TransAm. Now that's a tire.

His 7.5 Bonneville wheels are wider than your 6.5" SE wheels, so there's no way you can safely run that wide of a tire.

Even thats a bit wide for a 6.5" wheel, I would say 235 at the most. If a tire is too wide for the wheel it will wear out quickly in the center. If you want to go with 245 or 255 you should get wider wheels.

Here's a quick update on the 255/50/17s on 7.5" Bonneville wheels. The front's rub in a few spots on the plastic inner fender well from time to time. I have about 10k on the tires and it doesn't look like it will rub through any time soon. They don't cause me any problems as far as I can tell. I bet they will rub a little more once it's lowered. Hopefully it won't be a problem. I haven't noticed the rears rubbing even with the trunk and back seat loaded down with a full tank of gas. They may rub a bit or need the fender lip rollled once it's lowered.

Good Luck!

Steven
