Myself and GF were on our way to dinner when I noticed that the car was lacking power and slowed down faster when not on the gas and not even touching the brakes yet, then I started to smell somthing burining so I turned off and stop, she say's my car is smoking from the passenger side. At first I was thinking tranny is messing up cause I was out of town for the past couple of days and overheated the tranny, but the smoke was coming for the caliper now the car is parked at my parents house waiting to be fixed sometime today, is my passenger caliper messed up or am I looking for somthing else. Also the brakes were done last spring.

sounds like you got a sticking caliper... that would cause the smelling/smoking sensation...

Yeah, you'll likely end up replacing the caliper. Not a very involved process, really. The hardest part is bleeding the brakes properly.

Well took it apart this afternoon and there don't seem to be a problem caliper did move while I had a C-clamp on there just loose a little, but as someone stated could of been sticking. Now my new issue is going to have to replace the front rotors there are way to many gouges there and the pads seem more smooth the rotors are.

gouges in rotors = bad
smooth rotors = good

Replacing the rotors is very easy..you can complete that process in no time!

I got a set of rotors and ceramic pads on ebay for $240 something shipped... Powerstop i think...

The seller is brakemotive76

Their customer service is excellent!

after doing ur brakes id recomend a brake flush. if you got it so hot that it was smoking you proally boiled the brake fluid.

ahhh, something i know what im talking about...sorta.

1. the caliper may be sticking, but if it slid back with a c-clamp then caliper still may be good. but then again with that heat personaly i would replace it.
2. check the slides those stick all the time
3. the brake hose going from the hard line to the soft may also be bad.
4. deffenitly if the brakes were smoking replace the rotor. with that heat that thing will warp very easy.

this sounds exactly like this car we had come in during the summer. brakes froze and the heat transfered up to the plastic wheel well...and you can geuss what happened next.

Well it did it again tonight while I was on my way out to meet up with friends. Afterwards called a buddy to meet up with me to check it out and sure enough the caliper is shot luckly I had one on the side that I was going to use as a little project, but this is only going to be tempory until I replace the rotor and pads or go with the F-body upgarde.
