Hey there,

I am a newbie to this site and am looking to improve the handling of my 2004 GP GTP Comp G. I have been reading some of the older posts and am not sure about many things. I just want a tighter handling vehicle. Can someone point out some things that I could do for relatively cheap < $500 to start? then I could do more as money allows.

I appreciate the help.

One thing that I have been reading about is putting on a front and rear STB. That is something easy to do, especially with Don Rome's brackets. Anything else that I should do that is simple, yet effective?

Thanks for the tip.....

So what will the ZZP trailing arm do for my handling?

Seems like the ZZP Training Arms will fit my 2004 GP. I am assuming that the installation would be fairly easy. I have never done this before....any good instructions or lessons learned? Thanks!

rear sway bar
Rear Trailing arms
rear STB
front STB
AGX Adjustable shocks + Lowering springs (preferable higher spring rates)
Wider rims + sticky tires

in roughly that order, should sort out all your handling issues

Thanks for the suggestions....

After I receive the STBs, then I will get the new RTAs from ZZP. I am assuming that these will be better than Stock?

Also, I have 17" wheels and tires and will not go to 18s for awhile. If I decide to lower the vehicle, I have heard that I do not want to get lowering springs that lower the vehicle more than an inch and should get SSCs and of course the AGXs. What will happen if I want to get 18s? Will I have to revamp the springs again?

Also, since I have a Comp G, would I need to improve my sway bars?

Thanks!

I just installed my STB's on my car this friday. I noticed alittle differance on a round about, I gained about 6km/h going around it (40km/h). I have the trailing arms from ZZP but I can't find a 18mm wrench for the front nuts.

It took me awhile to put the STB's on my car, they required about a 1/2" of reaming on the holes. I had to bend them a little to get them straight. Be careful if you try to bend them they seem flimsy (of coarse they are like 3' poles, thats alot of force).

I'll update when I get my trailing arms installed.

hey there!

Hmm did you get the STBs from Don Rome? What holes had to be reamed out? the brackets? the STB's? How long did it take you to place them on both the front and rears?

As far as the RTAs, I have never done that and any instructions or help rom you would be most appreciated. As well as knowing how much of a difference they made in the handling.

Thanks!

Well.....some of the suspension mods are on their way...

Don Rome's STBs with brackets

UMI Performance RTAs

I will be installing the STBs this weekend and I should get the RTAs sometime next week. Looking forward to having a better handling vehicle!

Someday in the next 6 mo.....SSC lowering springs and KYB struts. I may get headers and a downpipe instead.

Thanks for everyone's advice.

You and I have very different definitions of body roll. Trust me SSC's let the body roll quiet a bit

If I really had the money/time

-97-03 Progress Front Sway
-ZZP 97-03 LCAs
-ZZP coilovers
-Comp G Rear Sway
-Racingline Front Sway bar end links (Still have to test fit them)
-Moog Rear Sway bar endlinks
-Front and Rear STB
-Custom Sub Frame Connectors
-Possbily a Custom Lower Tie Bar

I say possibly on the Lower Tie Bar as it can have a tendancy to induce understeer more in some applications from my past experience, but it tightens up the steering like an unbelieveable amount in every car I've driven. I really was headed towards a setup like that and I really do want to do coilovers but I'm chickening out on them I guess...Just gonna do Bilsteins and B&G Springs now

Good choice on the UMI arms. I'm running them now. I also have F/R stb's. I want to do the SSC springs down the road

Hi there,

Have you noticed a noticebale difference in your handling? Any issues with the install that I should be aware of?

Thanks!
