Now, before I start, I know that when you lower your car it throws the axles out of alignment. And I know of the two ways to fix the alignment of the axles and the vibration associated with lowering. I've bought some SSC springs that are for a 97-03. I know these will lower it a bit more on my 04 because it's heavier. My car has 110,xxx mi on it now and I'm pretty sure it's still on the stock CV axles. But I have no vibration, no clicking noises when turning. So I'm assuming that my CV axles are still in good shape. Would anyone care to wager on if my axles will be fine with the drop if I use shortened dog bones?

you should be fine. i have an 05 with ssc springs. i dont have shorter dog bones or the transmission and motor spacers. and i have 135xxx miles. they click a little bit when turning but not bad at all. i have anti pogo washers in it so the vibration is not that bad. i have the spacers but i have yet to put them in. i wanna wait till i order the shorter dog bones on friday. that way i can just put it all in at once. like i said though, you should be fine.

They should be fine for a little while, but I wouldn't wait to long to install engine spacers.

Sweet. Thanks. Also, I just happened to have 2 cradle washers (aka anti-pogo washers) from when I replaced the subframe in my cutlass a few years ago. Those will be going on the front. Is it necessary to do the rears as well? I've seen who have only done the front, and I've seen write ups on CGP saying you can buy just 2 for the front if you want.

Hey there,

Good luck wih the drop. I am curious to see how far you drop with the Bilstein HD and SSC combo. By the way, how do you like your Bilstein HDs now that they are thoroughly broken in. Is the ride harsh or just right?

Thanks!

I put new axles in when I did the coilovers and I have a full set of spacers in, no vibration. If I blow an axle within the next year, I'll got to ZZP for some built ones I think.

You can run just a half set of spacers with the SSCs, they are really easy to install. Took me like 15 minutes, its worth doing

Actually the ride is quite nice. Not harsh at all and not soft and spongy. If you can guess what that feels like. They ride really good even on stock springs. I'd recommend them thoroughly if you have the cash for them. And I'll be sure to take before and after measurements.
