ok so i bought some Xtremestop rotors i dunno if anyone has heard of them there suppose to be good.. but i ran into a problem and not sure if they will work there the same size and everything they fit on but the holes for the bolts are a bit bigger then the stock ones the stock ones are 14mm and these are 17 mm. will this cause any problems? told the guy and he said thats how they come and once it goes over the hub itll be ok.. but it was loose when i put them on. im thinking if the holes are bigger wont it eventually break out the studs? PLEASE HELP

You'll be fine. Once the wheel is on and tightened down it will hold the rotor in place. Most brake rotors have holes bigger than the studs/bolts.

Understandable, but don't worry. You'll be fine. If it makes you feel a little better I know 2 people with those same rotors on an Impala and a Grand Prix and haven't had a problem for the past 2-3 years.

turn them forward, most your braking power is done obviously when your moving forward, that way they cant do what happened to me, i installed rotors just barely large also, just started going backing up they slipped back, light catch nothing big, but i went down the road and back, broke a stud. all we did was turn them and now its snug unless i slam the breaks in reverse, but would need alot of force. you'll be ok, just recommend turning so you dont get the same problem =o other then that they have been fine for over a yr.

I could be misunderstanding what you're trying to say, but when you actually slam on the brakes the rotor, if it really wanted to move at all, would be moving backward (i.e. clockwise on drivers side counterclockwise on pass side) not forward, thus turning them forward isn't actually doing anything and would make the theory of rotors slamming into studs worse since the rotor would have more momentum to slam into the stud. Also, some cars, mine for example, use a small 1/8" screw to hold the rotor in place while the wheel is off but that screw hasn't broken on me and I beat the crap out of brakes. And that little screw surely isn't enough to withstand the force of a 3000 lb car going from 100-0, it's all the friction between the wheels and the hub. If you torque your wheels down properly than you have nothing to worry about.

yea, my bad, i meant that when i reversed they slammed forward and therefor when i was headed to slow down when i broke the stud it was because they rotated backwards, sorry i miss worded what i was saying, but yea that was also with just putting em on with an impact not torque em down cuz mine are steels so i wont hurt them like alloy

yes planeboy corrected what i was trying to say, if i had pics i would shown them and it would have made more sense.

I figured it was a miswording. It's all good. So yeah, turn them backwards (clockwise on drivers side, counter on pass).

Even stock GM rotors are big by a couple millimeters. Don't lose any sleep over it. No need to, whatsoever. I had rotors like that for YEARS, and drove the piss out of the car, and never had trouble.
