How similar would this be to doing a 97-03?

Looks like it would be similar, if not the same, steps

Fronts are the same way..

Rears you DONT need hubs because 97-03 E-brakes are in the rotor like the GXP

You would only need

1. calipers with brackets
2. brake Pads
3. Rotors
4. Brake hoses

97-03 would be easier to Install

Just wanted to put this up for everyone's info. I lost one of the noise reduction clips for the brackets and found out that Napa is the only one that I found that you can buy from and not have to purchase brake pads. The P/N is 83349A for those that need it.

Just finished the rear GXP setup on my 05. Came out very nice.

For those that might be interested, the GM part numbers for rear GXP brake lines are :

15826462 - Left
15826463 - Right
Price is around $20 each

The e-brake lines are:

15297496 - Right
15242626 - LEFT

I think it feels better with only the fronts.. Pedal feels softer with the complete set up over just having the fronts.

Im in the process of gathering all the parts for the swap, will this setup work with 17 inch rims? cuz my winter runners are 17s and my summers are 18s, Also if getting ebrake set-up you would need the hub and brake shoes and cables.. correct, or go to junk yard and get them??

Wy do you remove the entire rear hub housing? Couldn't you just knock the old hubs out or do you require the GXP housings as well? Just curious

The GXP brake kit (rear), requires a different hub because the e-brake setup is different. On the regular 2004+ models (non-GXP), the e-brake uses the caliper itself. On the GXP (like previous gen 97-03 models), it uses a shoe assembly inside of the hat of the rotor. If you don't install the rear brakes, you don't need to swap..
But, if you want it all to work, you need to replace the hub, and also replace the two rear e-brake cables.

I did this swap as well, works pretty good. I didn't put the GXP brake pedal in yet, since it looks to be a PITA.

Right on.. so it didn't do much huh. I guess I shouldn't have bought it then.. ahha. I find there's a little too much pedal travel for my tastes the way it is right now.

Your are right..There is alot of travel in the pedal.. I may go back to the stock setup in the rear..

I keep hearing that going with a smaller brake booster will help with this situation.

I have an Impala one here, if/when it goes on the car, I'll chime in. Depending on the mods for the spring, it may be needed.

Not even amazed that they would just link to this thread instead of putting up their own instructions. Typical ZZP, pay now, figure it out later (mostly on your own). /end of rant
