I was told by a local yard today that the rear calipers on a Lacrosse are the exact same that are on the GXP, the guy said "They are interchangeable you wont have any issues". Is this true?

It's possible that the rears are the same. Generally speaking, GM cheaps out on the rear brakes while putting at least somewhat decent upgrades on the front.

I know the Lucern uses the same size fromt brakes but they are cast iron, not aluminum.

the confusion is easy to understand the V8 gxp and the V8 buick use all the same brakes, the buicks are just not the pretty red

I checked at the dealership and they pulled diagrams of both rear calipers and brackets and they said they are nothing alike

so after i looked at this again I went to rockauto.com and it says that the lucerne ones will fit will fit i think. So this poses another question, the e-brake setup should be the same right?

I dunno, the rear of the calipers looks a little fishy. I dont think the e-brake will work.

Can ou see the bracket on the back side of the caliper? Thats the e-brake, it won't work for the 97-03 guys.

Yeah I know Vinnie you told me a couple of times about the e-brake but I have never used mine since I have owned my GP. So I was thinking if these will work minus the e-brake I would be ok with running these.

They may still work now that i thinkn about it. I would ahve to look at a better pic but the stock e-braks is completely contained in the drum of the rotor. Maybe those would work after all and just not even hook the e-brake cable up to it.

They might hook like my rear f-body brakes on my s10.

It has a spring, where the brake cable attaches too with a hook on it. They also use drum style e-brake systems..

Are we in agreement that they might work if you just forget about the e-brake stuff on the caliper? It really might be worth a shot.
