So I am getting closer to time to do my breaks and I want to fillup my 18inch wheels. what is the best solutiuon? I want something that is easy to find new parts for, requires little fabrication, and works a lot better than my stockers.I dont race or anything i just want to KNOW that I can stop. It looks like my options are F-body/vette, Barer makes a kit and there are the GXP takeoffs. what are the pros and cons of each?

Thanks

If you're okay with the Fbody size, you could go with the 06+ Impala brakes. Same size as the Fbody's just the calipers are iron instead of aluminum but they bolt right on.

From what I've read/been told/seen they are the same dual piston design just different metals and the caliper carrier is drilled/threaded slightly differently than the Fbody's, but that difference let's them fit on other Wbody's without using an adapter sleeve or retapping the hole or whatever nonsense is required to get them to bolt up to the spindle like on the Fbody's.
I've personally never done the upgrade myself but have looked into it for the GF's car. Still on the to-do list though since they are pretty easy to get a hold of around here.

Don't get fbodys they make you're brake pedal travel greater. Thats what brians using on his impala.

Same goes for the GXP calipers. You will need the GXP pedal to not have the pedal travel. The 06+ impala calipers bolt right in and are dual piston. You could also just get the caliper brackets to use the larger 12" rotor for the front.

Thanks, so I can get the stronger calipers without messing up the pedal but what about bigger brakes?

Well if you go with with either of those set ups, then you will need a larger rotor for the front. If you do the GXP set up all around, then you will need larger rotors all around.

I would like to go with D&S but first they need to be bigger, what all needs to be done to go to GXP all around?

Here's a good writeup with parts list for the GXP's.
suspension-brakes-wheels-and-tires-f18/complete-gxp-brake-setup-on-a-04-with-working-e-brake-t15435.html

Direct bolt on for the fronts and easy swap for the back since the 97-03's use the same drum inside of rotor style e-brake like the GXP's, so you don't have to swap spindle/hubs like the writeup shows.

Hope that helps a little.
