Bilstein website says that they have shocks for the 2004 Grand Prix: I can't find any pricing info or who carries these
either on the internet or local parts stores- seems like nobody has any info or record of these shocks ??? Anybody shed
any light on this like who has it, pricing etc... or if you have them installed on your auto? How did get them etc....lookig for any kind of input and info on this.....

(1) They offer in both Heavy Duty and comfort types:
(2) Here art the part numbers:

F4 VE3 F315 HO for the fronts - Heavy duty
F4 VE3 F316 HO for the Rears - Heavy duty

F4 VE3 F337 HO for the fronts - comfort shocks
F4 VE3 F338 HO for the Rears - comfort shocks

(3) I wished Koni would manuf shocks for our cars, and as for these Bilsteins WTF? What these top secret shocks for the privilage few? I don't get it-they advertise and yet nobody got them ????

The bilsteins were used on the GXP and will work on yours. You can get them from the dealer or anyone who sells GM parts online.

The cheapest I've seen GXP Bilsteins is from the Vendor here - MonsterParts. Even then they're around $260 each.

Agreed, and I am sure they are great struts. A lot of us have ended up going with the CompG Struts instead. They run in the 400 per set range.

Guys:

(1) Are the GXP struts using the same part numbers as on The Bilstein website ?
(2) What are difference between GXP Struts and The Comp G struts in term of type shock used, springs stiffness, and is ride height affected on both type struts?
(3) Can the Comp G struts from 04 model be used with WBS lower control arms for my 04 Garnd Prix GT2 ????
Do I need to Purchase 97-03 Gomp G struts or 04 Comp G struts ?

1- No, you need to get the part numbers that are listed by GM, they can be found online easily.
2- GXP struts are way more heavy duty, you can tell just by looking at the shaft size (it's double the size). Springs are specific to the GXP, but you can use your regular ones if you want. Ride height will be higher on a non-GXP car with the GXP springs. I don't know what would happen with regular 04 springs... If you use lowering springs, you'll be about 3/4 of an inch lower than stock height (perfect height, IMO).
3- There are no 97-03 comp g struts. It is a specific model for the 04/05 year Comp Gs. They bolt up the exact same way as other struts, ie; direct replacement. If you have aftermarket lower control arms which work with your current struts (I assume not KYB AGX), then you'll be fine.

Guys:

Let me get this staright...
(1) Are you saying the comp G struts are most likely AC Delco's; how much of a difference are these than what on my 2004 Grand Prix GT2 stock struts?

(2) Are saying that 04-05 Comp G struts will fit my car with the WBS -NCA control arms and the GMPP 33mm
heavy duty Front sway bars with no problem. So if I order this I just get the struts and keep my 04 stock springs
with WBS conrol arms. This will work ?

(3) I looked on GM Direct and Monster parts I could not find part numbers for the GXP or Comp G Struts...
has anybody got these part # available ??? both sites say non-sport or sport suspension w/o part numbers????

Bilsteins will not be out for the grand prix until late may, possibly early june. I saw them on their website too, called them, and spoke with a customer service rep. I even found a typo on their web site where the wrong description was associated with the wrong part #.

1- The struts are stiffer and ride lower.
2- the heavy duty sway bar is stock on a Comp G model, so yes it works. If your lower control arms work with an 04+ strut, then you're fine because you're replacing it with another 04+ strut.
3-
COMP G
Front - 88955411
Rear - 88955413
GXP Bilteins
Front - 15245596
Rear - 15236084

Sorry to revive this post. But I am curious as to whether or not 04+ GXP struts will work on 97-03 GTP's. I have a 2000 GTP coupe and if I were to find a wrecking yard GXP, would I be able to put the stock BILSTEIN's on my GTP? Also, I noticed in this thread that somebody said Bilstein's with lowering springs will give 3/4 of an inch. How about on my car? Anybody know the ride height then?

Also, does anybody know much about wheel fitment? I am looking to put 18x8 Voxx MG3's with lowering springs, any problems with that? The fender gaps seem like they should accommodate large diameter wheels, but not sure about width and spacing and offset and clearance and all that stuff. Love to hear what yunz have to say.

The GXP struts will work in a 97-03. The bilstien struts with the GXP springs will make a 97-03 sit higher. I believe Kyle_99_GTP had them on his 97-03 car. But you could put any lowering spring you want on the bilsteins since they handle a lowering spring fairly well. Also depending on how low you go, you may or may not have to roll the rear fenders.

Kyle had Comp G struts on his 99, but with SSC springs.
But Guz summed everything up quite nicely. They will work.

Allshocks.com has the GXP Bilsteins for almost the same price as the Comp G struts. They also have the sport tuned version which is $237 per strut. Here is the link:

I will be going for the HD struts in the next month or so. They are about 5%-10% stiffer than the GXP struts and lord only knows how much stiifer the Sport versions are. I could hear my teeth chatter just thinking about it! :)

I swapped my old struts and springs out for complete assemblies from a 05 GTP, they made my car site higher than normal, but I then lowered it on 04+ SSC springs. So yes, all the 97-08 struts are compatible, but ride height can be affected.

I have 104K miles on my origional struts. I am getting the Canuck motorsports GXP Springs custom made to 2.5/2.0. Should I go with Bilstein HD's or Sport. Pros/cons of each?

I would go for the HDs personally, just because they would offer some forgivness. I imagine the Sport versions are not too forgiving. But hey, go to the Allshocks website and they have descriptions of the differences.

The "sport" version is shorter in order to better handle a lowering spring. The HD simply is not shorter, but both can handle lowering springs without a problem. I would imagine one would last just as long as the other. And I wouldn't worry about the stock GXP struts. The Bilstein HD's from allshock are cheaper and tuned to Bilstein's standards. Not GM's.

If its not shorter it can’t handle lowering springs. PERIOD. That’s the whole reason why GR2s and even AGX will not last like they’re supposed to because of lowering springs.

My HDs seem to be handling a lowering spring just fine.

For ~$600 I hope they last a good long while. Even with lowering springs. But they ride great. They don't allow the SSCs to drop the car as advertised, but that's fine with me.

Did you get SSC's for a regular grand prix or did you get the GXP version? The GXP version gives you a full 2" drop since the regular ones ride a little bit higher with these struts. There is a huge thread in clubgp about this.
