The Goodyear Eagle GT's are just about worn out so I'm looking for new tires. I like the Eagle's a lot but they wear fast (25K miles) and don't have a treadwear warranty.

I came across the 2 new tires below and they look similar to the Eagle's, but they are less money and have a warranty. I've always been a Goodyear/Goodrich/Michelin fan so I'm not too familiar with either brand.

The Dunlop looks like it'll be better in the rain/snow which is important to me. I also want decent straight line traction and good cornering performance too. I think either of these would work pretty well for year round use.

I can get the Eagle's locally for $177 which is a good price. This is the same place I got the set I'm driving on now.

What are your thoughts on these 3 options?

I wish I could help, I'm in the same boat as you Don. I have the Eagle GT's and while I'm very happy with the tires and performance, I'm not happy with the treadlife either. I think I'm coming up on having them for 2 years this spring and already need some new ones. So I also will be in the market for some new tires and would prefer some that would last longer but perform just as well.

I have Eagles on the G8 and I got to tell you, I have no complaints at all.. I have 32K on them now and there is enough thread wear left to go for awhile longer.. If one of the tires didn't get cut in my recent accident which one of them did. I think I will have no problem getting 40K on them..

I ended up buying the Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position all season tires. I got a great price on them locally for $195 each, which was less than Tire Rack or Discount Tire. They are rated #1 in the Tire Rack reviews, so they should be better than the Eagle GT's which I really liked a lot.

On the ride home from the tire shop they were smooth and quiet plus they have a good road feel. Since it's cold out I couldn't push them hard in the corners, but they do feel very stable at high speed with no vibration at all.

The place where I bought them had the new Kumho Ecsta 4x and they looked like a nice tire. But I haven't seen any reviews on them yet, so I thought the Bridgestones would be a better choice since they were only $20 per tire more. When we get more snow I'll let you guys know how they do and also give you some wet dry/traction feedback when it warms up here.

I am a big fan of the BF goodrich G-Force sports. They have great dry traction and do well in wet weather too. Snow they aren't great in, but they are more of a summer tire not an all season. Reasonably priced usually too. They are a bit soft and if you drive like I do they can wear out a tad faster than your standard all season but I think I got around 35-40k out of my last set.

I can't believe how smooth these tires are on the highway. When I'm doing 80 it feels like I'm doing 30 and they are so quiet. Dry traction is fantastic, I can't break them loose with almost 400hp under the hood. The wet traction is excellent too, but I haven't been able to try them in the snow yet.

Right on, I have heard good things about the potenzas too. Yeah no snow for most of us this year it seems. Winter lasted a whole weekend here in jersey so far. It was 65 today and supposed to be warmer tomorrow!
