I'm developing a STB bar for the front of my G8, and it's coming along very well. It's made out of solid aluminum so it will be lightweight yet very sturdy. The bar will bolt on without drilling any holes or modifying the car, so it will be very easy to install.

I haven't set a price on it, but it will be VERY affordable. I'll let you know when I get it finished, and then I'll have a final price for it with some pics. I'd like to make for the rear but it's covered in carpet, so I'll have to remove it after the front brace is done to see if it's possible.

I might be interested in one. Would these be available painted, or are you just sticking with the aluminum look?

How are you planing to attached it? Pedders has a nice bar but you have to remove the strut to drill holes to mount it. BMR also has a bar that does not need new holes drilled but I do not care for how they mount it.

I made some special bolts that hook into the existing holes on the strut towers, so no drilling is required.

Here is some pics of the front strut brace and mounting brackets that I made for my car. It installs without drilling any holes and it attaches very securely to the existing holes in the strut towers. I just finished it and I haven't tried it out yet, so I'll let you know how well it works once I put it to the test. If there is enough interest I plan to sell them on my website, and I'd like to know what everyone thinks about it.

Good work Don!!!

Like Nick said.....Any clearance issues...It sure looks close the the engine!!

My only OTHER concern is that (1) bolt per bracket will be sufficient?
(not like you (2) bolt setup for the GP's)

It doesn't interfere the engine cover but it might touch the hood insulation pad. I'll give her a test drive when I get a chance and let you know how it works. There is another bolt hole on the back side of each strut tower, so if needed I can utilize that.

I thought there was another hole looking at the pic!!
(1st pic left side back)

Well you did a fine job forming it and I'm sure if you had to wrap
it around the strut to the other bolt, it will still look sweet and be
functional...

There's a wire harness in the hole on the right side but it should just pop right out. I would have to weld a piece on the existing bracket to use the other mounting hole, there would be too much material waste if I made it one piece. That's why I used one bolt for testing purposes.

It's much thicker than the bar itself and it's made from high strength aircraft alloy aluminum. That's the same material/thickness I use for the Grand Prix STB mounting brackets so it shouldn't be problem.

Gotcha, just looks like it could flex; but if its made from Alloy Aluminum then I guess youre good to go. They look good, im gonna have to show my brother.

I tested the bar today and there's definitely an improvement in the corners, and the steering is more responsive too. It gives the car a more solid feeling in the front end. Now I have to see if I can make one for the rear!

The price will be $115 shipped in the lower 48 and $10 more to Canada. I should have them on my website soon, and it includes all the special hardware to install it.

$115 shipped for the brackets only? or including bar?

Thanks Dane! I try to provide nice looking/affordable parts for everyone's car.

Nick that includes the bar too. It takes a lot of time to make the special mounting bolts and the special washers that center the bolts in the larger holes, so you're not just buying 2 brackets and a bar.

I haven't even pulled off the carpeting from the rear strut towers yet, so I have no idea what type of brackets I will need to make.
