According to the salesman, My new G8 is coming with all-season tires on it. I really need to find something else for the winter.

I ran Goodyear Eagle GT all seasons last winter, and I had no problem getting around on snow covered roads. The traction control works well, and with the limited slip rear end the tires don't slip much.

With all seasons you should be OK.. I ran summer performance on the GP last winter and I was fine (I know it's FWD though) as long as you don't drive like a jackass.. A friend of mine has michelin pilot sports all seasons on his GTO and he can get that car pretty much anywhere in the winter.. He has the worst driveway and can make up like a champ with those things..

I was going to put Michelin's back on the GP last fall when I needed tires, Then I found out they were $320 dollars a piece. I went with the Yoko's and they were great in the summer, But when it came to snow look out.

Are you kidding me? $320 a piece? For what size? My 275/30/19 are only about $230 a piece and those are the NT555's... (not recommended for winter!)

I thought about going with summer tires but I decided to got back with all season tires since all this Global Warming has brought us snow about 5 times this winter. Normally we see snow once every 5-6 years and it usually doesn't stick.
I used to run Eagle GT's on my Trans Am but it got too expensive. They wore down too quickly for the price.

Sounds like a good deal but I don't think you have a G8, they don't come with 17" tires.

Hey Don - thanks for the input about the Goodyear Eagle GTs. I'm looking to get a performance tire for my '05 and have had a running list that I recently narrowed down to around five selections and the Eagle GTs made it through the rounds of cuts so they're on the final list as an option.

I'm not worried about price - although I will say $300+ per tire is getting high - as I store the GP in the winter and even during the warm months she is only mainly taken to car shows and to church on occasion or whenever I get an itch to give her some exercise (out of ALL of 2009 I only put a little under 3,000 miles on her!).

Go with the Eagles, You won't be disappointed. The G8 came with them from the factory and I am glad they did!
