actual emissions coming out of the tail pipe no a hummer is worse but to build them both then yes. hard to put that per mile

No, only a wideband o2 gauge with a compatible o2 sensor will.

do I need a gauge to tune with a wideband also? or can HPtuners read it? What I'm getting at is whats the best way to get a good dyno tune?

From my understanding you will need both wideband/02 sensor and hptuners along with knowledge of tuning.

I wouldn't be doing the tuning myself, I've dabbled enough in it that I know its not my cup of tea; at least not yet.

Yes you will need both. HPTuner can read wideband o2 numbers, but ONLY if you have a wideband compatible o2 sensor (and if you have a sensor you mind as well get the gauge too so you can always see what your AFR's are, most/some gauges have an output for laptop interfaces), otherwise HPT only reads what the PCM sees which is narrowband.

forgive my ignorance; are widebands plug and play? I remember looking into the AEM eugo a long time ago but never get further than that.

The sensor itself needs to be put into the exhaust obviously, but a bung needs to be welded in the exhaust (pre cat, post collector) or if you are catless but still have the post cat o2 bung, just screw it into that. Then you can hook the gauge up to the sensor and then hook the gauge up to a switchable 12v source and ground.
