Im looking to do some more work when my taxes get here. Just kinda curious what everyone thinks i should do now? I have $2000-$2500 to work with. I already have Borla cat-back, K&N intake, 180* Thermostat, and headers are already planned out side of that money. This car is my DD so i need reliable also. Any help would b great!!!! My tax money will b here this week or next so gotta figure out what im gonna do soon.

Either turbo it or go headers/cammed/full size IC.

speed daddy headers on the way. what should i go with for cam and ic? ive always been worried about getting a ic cuz of being my DD (water and snow and crap like that)

-- Tue Feb 15, 2011 12:03 pm --

was just looking at the short stack ic on ZZP. Can i still use my K&N intake or do i need to go to a front mount or something like that? is this a good one to use? or what ic would u recomend? also what pulley would u recomend going down to?

No on the short stack intercooler-junk. And yes you would need a front mount heat exchanger, but it's completely seperate from the air intake system. It's a water to air system not air to air.

If you are going to do an intercooler do it right the first time and get a fullsize. Or just ditch the intercooler idea and go with the NIC cam. :)

The NIC cam is designed to run smaller pully's without an intercooler. If you decide not to cam I would suggest at minimum a full size intercooler. However, you will need larger injectors(if planning on running 3.0 or lower pulley). With a full-size intercooler you will need to hack up your fuel rails or purchase aftermarket.

Check zzperformance.com and wbody sotre for intercoolers.

ZZP XP cam and a S2/S3 IC would be fine for a daily driver. I would Personally recommend the Intense S1x cam for a DD though. The S1x and XP cams are very, very similar though.

-- Wed Feb 16, 2011 1:52 pm --

And I know it's already been covered, but no no no no no SSIC. I had one and sold it before I ever installed it. It's not worth it.

The XPZ requires headwork, you want the regular XP cam.

http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix ... &catid=104

The intense cam is here:

http://intense-racing.com/Merchant2/mer ... y_Code=HCV

ANd yes, that is the correct IC.

I would do either the XP came if you're going with ZZP or the S1x cam if you're going with Intense.

The cam can be changed by dropping the cradle some and can be done through the fenderwell, but it's easier to do it by pulling the motor. I would say a IC and cam could be done in a full weekend though, as long as you don't run into any major snags.

i think im gonna go with the intense cam. when i do it im gonna do some paint under the hood while i have it all tore up. might have to find a engine hoist if that would b easier.

what else do i need to get to do the cam and ic? is everything i need included to do the job? and what pulley would u recommend running with this setup?

When u purchase a cam that's what you get only the cam. You will also need springs, retainers, valve seals, front cover gasket, valve cover gaskets, coolant elbows, rocker bolts, fresh oil, oil filter, and coolant.

Yep, what he said.

I would think with a S1x cam and a full sixe IC you could run at least a 3.0 pulley, with a tune.

I would add a timing chain as well. I would go with a at minimum a double roller but that's just me. The NIC cam can be found on ZZP's site.

Between the S1X and XP if you aren't going intercooled I would choose the S1X.

S1x either way, IMO. I really wish I would have installed mine. And yeah, definitely a double roller, completely forgot about that. Don't bother with a single roller, it's not worth it.

I run the XP cam and couldn't be happier with it. I like the more lopey sound of the XP than the s1x. Really the cams produce very similar horsepower gains and numbers, so you can't go wrong with either one. Also you really don't need a double roller with either cam. I've ran a single roller on mine with higher seat springs and higher ratio rockers for 2 yrs without an issue. But if you do decide to run a double roller make sure you have the crank gear machined to fit the crank or the chain will surely break and you will be tearing back into the engine again or buying a new one.

You know with 2-2500 that's more than enough to purchase a used turbo kit. ;)
