Instead doing pieces of modding on my car I was wondering if it'd be more cost effective or even a good floor plan to add on to later to do the ZZP stage 2 upgrade on my 06 Gt Grand prix?

Has anyone else done it?

You could get a custom tune, full headers (not just a ZZP DP), tstat, pulley, plugs, and an intake for cheaper than that and you'd actually be better off.

X2. More money for other mods. You'll have to get a tune from Overkill since they are the only ones who have cracked the newer PCM.

Ps: saying 300 is relative. It's better to stick to dyno hp numbers and 1/4 times.

300 wheel or 300 crank? what 1/4 time do you want to run?

getting to 300 crank is alot easer then getting to 300 wheel. and you can run a 12 second 1/4 with with less then 300 wheel hp with a good luanch and tires

my 01 grand prix ran a 12.99 at 110mpg with only 271whp and 350 ft-lbs tourqe but it weighs 300lbs less then a 04+gp so it would of been a 13.2 run roughly witht he same mph

this si the set up the 01 had at the time

3" DP
3.4" pulley
zzp can tune
XP cam
9.2:1 compretion (it was a top swap GT)
2500 stall converter
drag radials
donut rims on the back
seats removed
and my 128lbs ass in the driver seat lol i am tiny

race weights was 3189lbs DD weight was 3378lbs according to the local scrap yard scales

ZZPs staged packages for the GP are a waste of money. Get SD headers, a tune, a smaller pulley and "supporting mods" as mentioned above and make more powa :D

300 is a tough number to break as well, at least to the wheels.

Aha that's what I get for listening to a firebird enthusiast.
Anyways, I might have shot myself in the foot on this car. Almost all my experience and knowledge are diesels, dodge performance cars and four cylinders.

I feel like a true noob in Gandalf. Learning from the ground up.

The 300hp to the wheels is my ultimate goal which will take a long time to get to I understand. Right now I really just need the foundation to get there and build effectively for the future.

http://www.grandprixforums.net/safely-m ... 17482.html <-- good read

As far as mods..screw the stage packages zzp offers.
1) Build your own intake...pretty cheap mod and you'll love the sc whine.
2) 180 Tstat..cheap helps with cooling.
3) Flip dog mounts....FREE. Helps keep the engine from moving.
4) Headers....speeddaddys...cheap and our stock manifolds are so restrictive
5) Tune

6) Common misconception is that you need to go w/ exhaust..wrong. It get restrictive when you hit the 300-350 hp mark..which many won't. Biggest thing you can do is go w/ headers and if you want to change up the tone...just switch the mufflers..I prefer borla xp pro.

Yeah 06-08 3800's. Before owners had to get PCMs from older years and swap them in but that made the fuel gauge read backwards.

I HATE DODGE... well mostly cuz I removed a 5.9 engine from a 1500 and god was that a mission. The 3800 is a every easy engine to learn. I don't think the same can be said about the L76 :S

Little late to the game on this one but I'm more concerned about torque than I am hp. I don't drag race at all (helped build a truck several years ago that ran 10s but that's about the extent of my drag racing and I never drove it). My thing is autocross/road courses. My 73 Camaro has more HP (and 3.73 rear gears) but the 87 IROC (with 25 less hp and 3.08s) I had up until about 6 months ago had more torque and handled better so I used it instead of the 73. That extra grunt coming out of the corners made up for the lack of top end on a typical autocross or road course. If I had kept it I would have gone to 3.42s and a 6 speed but sadly I had to sell it :(

300 is easy. Smaller pulley, tune, headers intake, and some nitrous. Works every time. :)
That will put you well over 300 to the ground.

Who needs a Prius when you get that kind of gas mileage even when drag racing!
