Hey guys and gals I have a question. I bought new plugs today from GM for my car. This is what i found in my Service infomation and I'm wonder if this is right for the gap:

Spark Plug Gap
1.52 mm
0.60 in

I'm still trying to figure this manul out on the puter that i downloaded, man there's tons of stuff on here but hard as hell to navigate thru it.

thanks
I will post the part number and the cost of eveything i bought today in the next few days

start at .055 and move from there. if it doesnt blow out you can make the gap bigger, if it does than make it smaller.

spark blowout FEELs liek youre drivign and then you hit a puddle of water. temporary loss of power almost.

you want to run the biggest gap you can without blowing the spark out.

on spark blowout?

yeah just google it.

bascially, it applies to only forced induction vehicles. all the extra air in the cyliner "blows out" the spark before it can ignite the air/fuel mixture.

I thought AC plugs were iridium. Which would mean they are pre-gapped, you dont take a gapper to iridium plugs, thats asking for bad news, especially a $7 a pop.

I checked them and they were at.60. But here is an issue. After i replaced the S/C oil and the plugs i took it out for a test drive it was awsome. then we ( wife and son) decided to go to the city 2 hr drive. the car ran pefect till i went to pass a honda.
when i started to give it some throttle 2/3 it started to have a miss like kyle said:

"spark blowout FEELs liek youre drivign and then you hit a puddle of water. temporary loss of power almost."
so i guess im going to pull them and make the gap a little smaller unless some one can shed some light on this for me

I gap at .055" and it seems to be fine. I thought about .052" but I think I'll leave it alone.

Well heres an update. I regapped them to .55. Took it out for a drive and the same dam thing. Now the check engine light comes on. I disconnected the PCM, left it for a hour then reconnected it. Let the car warm up to full temp then back out, same thing. when i did pull the plugs it looked like a couple of them had to much gas on them, but they looked like they were firing. the car runs awsome at idle and when driving around town. I am going to price out wires for the car and get a few more plugs and go from there. if I don't succed then off to the stealer ship.

might be your coils. find a way to get them tested or go to the junkyard and get an extra set. are you throwing the misfire code?

WELL. I bought a spark plug tester to look at the spark. gesh it was not steady. seemed to be misses in ithe spark. So i changed the plugs again and the plug wires. while i was doing this i was testing each one and it didn't seem to make any difference. I got the car all abck together and took it for a test drive. After i let the car warm up to opperatiing temp i took it out for a run, well no more slugglish responce at wot. Check engine light didn't come on. Now a question? when i bought the car the was an update done to the computer for a miss fire. Should i take it back to the stealership and have it check again?
I did disconnect the battery for a few hours after i changed everything.

Was that was your first time changing the plugs on that car, you may have messed up a wire by pulling on the boots. You may have caused one of the wires to break at a connection point inside the boot. Man....13.99 apiece for the plugs.....damn that is high. They did not give you a break on the price at all.

Factory plug wires are $48 CAD or $38USD
http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix ... 109&cur=23

upgraded wires are $100 USD and give around 4HP dyno tested.

Okay hey, this is something that I got a hold of in a certain place that Im not gonna give out publicly, but if you know anyone who needs specs and stuff or they want the Technical Service Bullitens tell them to email Bumpj5@yahoo.com and I can help them out. The only reason I am not passing this out publicly is because of where I found out about it, but it is very reliable and is used by dealerships and shops. No charge, if anyone charges you for this info, do not pay for it. As for the misfire, pull the plug out of the head, leave it connected but ground it on the block and start the car, you should be able to see it spark.
