Okay hey, this is something that I got a hold of in a certain place that Im not gonna give out publicly, but if you know anyone who needs specs and stuff or they want the Technical Service Bullitens tell them to email Bumpj5@yahoo.com and I can help them out. The only reason I am not passing this out publicly is because of where I found out about it, but it is very reliable and is used by dealerships and shops. No charge, if anyone charges you for this info, do not pay for it. As for the misfire, pull the plug out of the head, leave it connected but ground it on the block and start the car, you should be able to see it spark.

Ya i have the gm techline ESI. On my puter. You mentioned "As for the misfire, pull the plug out of the head, leave it connected but ground it on the block and start the car, you should be able to see it spark"
I use to do this 20 years ago and it worked fine. But as for todays vehicle with no distributors and hi voltage coil packs I won't do. I just bought tester that hooks up between the plug wire and the plug. cost $9.99 CAD works like a charm.

I was talking about shopkey5.com, but i guess that will work also. As far as grounding to block, I've dont it before, it is the same as plugging into the head b/c it travels through the block still.
