NO DO NOT RENT FROM AUTOZONE

the supercharger pulley puller is a special one. I have seen people try to use a autozone puller and end up having to spend lot more to get the pulley off and repair the charger. do some research on how the pulley pullers look compared to the regular pullers. they are nothing alike

Autozone and Oreily's that I've seen in Iowa do not carry Supercharger Pulley Pullers. I was in the same boat being in Iowa as well. I couldn't find anyone with one so I rented from ZZP. Mine and a friends pulley both came off pretty easiley by using ZZP's and didn't damage anything at all. DO NOT USE REGULAR PULLEY PULLER, you will damage your snout/SC!

If however autozone now carries supercharger pulley pullers someone for the love of god tell me! I would of loved to have been able to just go rent it from them, so much easier then ZZP.
If however no place offers one, your best bet being in Iowa is to find someone locally who is willing to purchase the rent with you, half and half. That way you can do both at same time, have a helping hand, and have some fun. I know Iowa though, it is hard to find people who are all into GTP's...

This is direct from Autozone's website about what specialized/universal pullers they offer:

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/inours ... pecialized

No supercharger pulley puller listed.

"also i need to know what else i need to get to do a pulley change? anyone that has done this please share ur knowledge"

Just get the complete pulley puller kit from zzperformance, or any other 3800 vendor, buy or rent. Follow the instructions that come with it (make sure to use anti seize).
If possible, have someone helping you, makes it so much easier! You use the puller to both remove, and install the hub for the new pulley. You could also go press on route but I urge against it.

I'm in Ames, and no you don't have to get a new belt, but it may be advised if your old one is in bad condition.

u pull the stock and press on the new one for $20? I havent even ordered it yet but as soon as i do ill drive to Des Moines to let u do it

What size pulley would everyone recommend? All i have done is a K&N intake and a Borla exhaust for now. There will be more to come but its my daily driver so the work is little by little.

Yup. What pulley are you going to run and what mods do you have if you don't mind me asking.

Even with borla exhaust and K&N you will see knock. Need to get headers, tstat, colder plugs, and a custom tune before you can think about a pulley drop.

Headers. You can get them relatively cheap now. It makes no sense to mess with downpipes, plogs, ported manifolds, etc. not to mention headers will outperform those. I have the SSAC's and i love them, for the price i paid for them i couldnt ask for more really. If you do end up deciding to get these, you will have to decide what you want to do about the cat. The SSAC replaces your stock cat'd downpipe with a catless one, as do pretty much all headers for our cars. You can either buy a cat and a have it welded in(what i did) or run catless. Runinng catless you will run into numerous tuning related issues that i wont go into. You will also need to get some quality band clamps(torca) to get them to seal properly. Hope this helps, you'll quickly realize the bottomless money pit modding is. Anything else just ask

blwn3800 what are you talking about? Numerous issues with running catless?!?!? You delete a a code from PCM using a tuner, and you are good to go. You reduce the restriction that the cat makes. If anything, when tuning/modding, the cat is an issue/restriction not to mention gets clogged annually.

Your best bet is to find someone with a tuner. If you can't find someone, then $400-500 will get you a new tuner, or you could pick one up used. HPTuners from pfyc is a good one, then you have to buy credit for your car. You will def have to do a ton of reading/learning.

Were it so easy. On the 04+ The PCM will run a special cat diagnostic test that was not an issue on the previous gen cars(the exception it appears are 01- 03 cars which i have heard also run this test). The PCM will command a max rich condition, +16 trims, and wait for the post-cat O2 to respond accordingly, if the PCM does not see a change it will continue to run this test untill it does, in this case it will never stop running the test and you will continue to run extremely rich. This is why O2 sims are not an option for us. The sim simply bounces the voltage around to fool the PCM into believing it is there and functioning, in this test the PCM dumps fuel at the sensors and expects them to max out the sim will simply not provide the data the PCM wants to see. Thats the jist of it. I can go more into detail if you need help with any tuning issues

As far as i know we currently have no way to disable this test, i know i cant do it with my HP tuner. The only thing i can do is disable the COT function as far as the cat is concerned. Disabling the SES codes and MIL lights does nothing, the PCM still runs the test you just wont know anything is wrong.

And cats clogging annually? This sound like a mechanical or tuning issue you need to resolve because it isn't a cat issue i've ever heard of. The cat isnt as restrictive as vendors would like you to believe, other parts of your exhaust are much more restrictive than the cat. High flow cats in most cases are simply heavier duty versions of regular cats.

We had no issues with my PCM dumping fuel when we tuned for my car while running the ZZP 3" Catless downpipe...

As for my statement on cats clogging, annually was an exaggeration. However on both my cars (GT, and GTP) I had to change out the cats because they were clogged. So it was more of an annoyance that I no longer have.

Unfortunately no, the closest would be Minnesota. Search around on forums and you may come across someone in iowa with one.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HP-Tuner ... ccessories

^Lowest price I could find on ebay for the HPTuners, but you would have to buy a 50 dollar credit or so as well (maybe cheaper elsewhere?).

Just a heads up on that ebay link. That is only the VCM scanner, you cant actually tune with it.
