Alright, I am new to the site and new to s/c cars, so please forgive my noobness. anyways my car a 2006 grand prix gt has a weird start up noise that goes away after i reach normal operating temp, after watching videos on youtube of couplers being bad in grand prixs I am pretty sure that mine is bad. I am not the most handy person, so I am kind of uneasy to messing with my vehicles motor, but I looked at the write up on zzperformance and it doesnt look to difficult of a DIY. but lets say I do chicken out and take it to the dealer, what would you think a task like this would run. Has any other unhandy folks attempted this? and would it be normal for a vehicle with only 37000 miles to need this part replaced? What side affects does this bad part have on my motor/ supercharger? Thanks in advance.
Nick

If you are unconfident that you can do it yourself, and unsure of if that is what is wrong with your car, take it in.
Dealer rates are generally $60/hour and up for labor, but they will diagnose any problems you may be having and replace or repair to OEM specs.
Most dealers will not install aftermarket parts due to liability/ warranty reasons.
As far as mileage/ replacement goes, it depends on how the previous owner drove the car... Different driving styles cause different amounts of wear.

I did my coupler on a 98 yesterday and was fairly simple just was a pain getting to all of the bolts and directions were very clear and nothing caught me by surprise when doing it.

I'm going to change the coupler myself with the zzperformance coupler and DIY. I will give feedback next weekend if it was a success and the solution.
