Chances are you'd get KR which would then reduce your timing advance thus netting you worse performance and lower MPG's. For an engine designed to run premium gasoline, especially a modded one, it actually costs more to run lower grades due to overall cost per mile. It's only a couple dollars more per tank for 93 so IMO it's foolish to not run it.

If you're spending too much on gas why do you want to put a performance cam in your car? As Matt stated premium is only a few $ more per tank so it's not worth it to possibly damage your motor just to save a little $ at the pump.

it's a $3.20 for a full tank diffrence between the 2

a GP tank is 18 gallons but do to the angle it is installed at only has 17 usable gallons and most pleople do not run it compleatly dry so i will go with 16 gallons

so right now regualr is 3.55 that is $56.80

premium right now is 3.75 that is $60

if you are that hurt for cash get a metro lol

and just for fun my merc has a massive 25 gallon tank part of the long range option package some police cruisers could get it has a perfomance tune so that is $90 for 24 gallons

and ont he opisite sie the lebaron with it's 12 gallon tiny tank (do to it being a convertible standared coupe and sedan had a 14 gallon tanks) and regualr fuel $39.50 for 11 gallons

Bingo ;-)
Trying to save a couple bucks is not worth it in the long run due and will hurt the whole "performance" part of your modding.
In total honesty if you're concerned with saving money, don't mod the car.

well you could get it tuned to 89 octane., but that wouldnt do much for you. If you want to switch feuls get bigger injectors along with some other stuff and go e-85

Yeah you could tune for 89, but it would not run as much timing and/or run richer to prevent detonation. Smaller pulleyed non I/Ced blowers are not something you want to run lower octane gas with. :violent2:
If you throw caution to the wind and run 89 or lower.... scan scan scan!!!!

Better mpg's? Drive it like you want better mpg's. If just shy of 30 MPG highway is not good enough the you should sell and get something that is cheaper payment and more MPG. A Honda or the like.

My s10 blazer gets 13 ish in winter and 15 ish in summer and has bested 18 highway. My truck 454 one tone dually gets 10 - 13 no matter what and has like a 30 gal tank. So beloved me when I say I know bad MPG.

I was driving my dads accord for a little while too and 25 back and forth and solid 29 highway was nice ( compared to my s10) but for the maybe 4 MPG difference I would much rather have my roomier MUCH more powerful modded gp!

Then nothing beats 40 MPG of two wheel summer fun ( besides 60 MPG moped) and even then if I ride like a hooligan I have gotten as low as high 20's and my car can do that. So it comes back to drive it like you want MPG! Fun driving like your 90? Nope, but it gets better mpg

he said, he was suprised at the amount of stuff we crammed in the back of the honda accord i brought to his house.

i had a leather driver seat, 4 wheels and tires, headers, and some other small stuff, in just the back seat and trunk. and still got @29 mpg with my big ass driving.

why would you want to put 87 in a superchrged car? You answered your own question by saying your running knock free now...you have no idea what 87 would do in regards to knock and your gonna end up siphoning the gas or trying to burn it up as fast as you can and end up spending money again on premium. You may want to get some priorities straight if your modding a car and then worrying about gas prices. #food for thought...spend the extra $3-4 on 93.

Does the OP not have an option for at least 91 octane? I run 91 if I'm a bit low on funds, and will switch to 93 whenever possible.

Something else you must consider is, do you have headers, and other mods to help prevent KR?

the cars are programmed to run on 91 octane so that would be perfectly fine

Good question but yea at least 91. Trust me I let my sister drive my crap and she but 87 in it lets just say you really will experience knock ended up siphoning it all out and using it in another car we have.

The ONLY time Gandalf has ever had 87 instead of 93 in It is when my friend graciously though thoughtlessly put half a tank of it in my car on the way back home. I didn't know.

We get not 2 mi down the road and I can just feel my car not doing like it normally does. When I asked and she told me what shed done I immediately pull over at the next gas station And syphoned out 1/8th of the gas and filled it all up with 93. Changed filters and everything When I got home.

In other words do NOT use 87.
