well you either add the turbo and remove most of the s/c stuff or there is the unessisary just because i can "twin charged" setup (both turbo and supercharged)

cam, rockeers, heads, ect ect all play a part in the "depending on your configuration"

in theory a stwin charge can help you speel faster at low RPM range but with a propper sized turbo it is not needed it is just bragging rights

Correct, the theory is that the supercharger will make power in low rpm then the turbo spools and takes over in the high rpm's

Once the turbo spools there has to be someway to bypass the S/C rotor blades or else you impede flow thus negating even having a turbo in the first place.

Like so...

you should but the twin charge set up people do on GPs do not do that they actualy do it reverse of VW. VW has the SC feeding the turbo wile the 3800 twincharge system has the turbo feeding the S/C

and i agree the rotor blades are just a restriction

Yeah a 3800 would have to be backwards of that VW system since the S/C is on top of the LIM and not a remote mount type of setup. I've never really looked into twincharging a 3800, but in theory for it to be successful those rotor blades would need to be addressed so the turboes boost could actually flow into the LIM without too much restriction and actually make more boost and make it more effectively through the S/C casing with rotors still intact to actually justify having a turbo in conjunction with the S/C in the first place.
Then again the need for a S/C can be pretty much negated as long as you don't run a huge turbo which would lag like crazy.

most on clubGP found that the car is faster with a pure turbo set up and a gutted S/C case

:???:

You speak of least amount of restriction with more boost? Boost is a measurement of restriction. It would be more air flow pumping through the engine.

he is talking about boost int he worng place. you want the restriction to be the cylander chambers in the perfect world but with a twincharge set up like on a 3800 the boost happens at the rotors. so it will read high boost ont he guage but it is doing diddly poo becuase most of it is not making it to the combustion chambers

Yeah I know what I said is technically contradictory. I'm speaking in none engineering nerd terms

Sry to revive this but I have a few more questions as I save for the turbo. Will I be ok running my stock heads and injectors with the z3 kit and intercooler and new cam?? Also, how dangerous is running methanol on a turbo'd gtp?

you will deffinatly need injectors especialy if you go to alchohal

and methanol is vary corrosive and as far as i know is only sold at race tracks and is expensive

Ok, so should I go with 42 or 60? Are there different advantages to having either one? And are stock heads ok to run until I can afford to put different ones in?
