I know this subject has been beat to death, but as you all probably know GM announced they will be keeping Pontiac alive, but just as a "niche" brand. I always felt we had "niche" cars. I dont know how you interperate this, but I take it as new life to my beloved brand. Its about time GM dumped the crap such as the G3 and gave us a limited run of performance cars...notice I say "car." That term does not include SUV or minivan. Bring back the days of the Pontiac as an icon and not just a corner of a Buick and GMC lot. Im stoked. I hope this isnt the beginning of Pontiacs demise. I prefer not to acknowledge bad news. I still have a gleem of hope for a new Firebird, as impossible as it might be.

I would be sad to see the Torrent GXP gone. My new neighbor has one and it is pretty bitchin. I was thinking about getting one for my wife depending on the pricing.

I find it funny they would keep GMC around considering it is EXACTLY the same as a chevy. At least Pontiac didn't look like any other division GM has. Just my $.02

I thought the same but read somewhere that the reason GMC will stay seperate is that they supply most of the really heavy duty work vehicles...dump trucks, school busses, smaller concrete trucks, etc. They build pretty custom to suit the buyer given they buy the chassis cab. Really the majority of big stuff you see id GMC. Ford has the run on the F350-F450 stuff, but beyond that its all GMC with no Chevy to be found. I worked at a Pontiac GMC dealership a few years ago and we didnt sell may daily driving personal pickups, it was all fleet.

Oh, and by the way, ditch the Torrent. If Pontiac wants to cater to the SUV crowd, they should take some tips from this guy...this thing is no friggin joke...http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/hot ... ialty_file
