Since I finished the top swap, any time I'm in boost I smell oil. I pulled the blower off the engine to swap the coupler, and the paper gasket was oil soaked and the bottom of the blower had oil on it.

I replaced the PCV valve when I first noticed the smell, however it didn't help any. Not sure if there's something else I can check. Any ideas? Should I just block it and use a breather?

EDIT: Oh, and what's the black plastic sleeve that sits under the PCV valve? The ported blower I'm using came off a car with a breather (I assume it was blocked off properly to use a breather) and didn't have the sleeve in it, so I pulled the sleeve out of a stock case and put it in. Should that come back out?

And the blower is a '97 case on a '99 LIM. I know the '97 has a different vacuum route and has extra ports on the blower, but are there any other differences?

Some oil probably spilled and is burning off. Degrease the engine once, and see if starts to go away.

Still having the issue, and I'm suspecting something is messed up in the PCV system. I'm not entirely clear on how the PCV works in the blower case, and how it's connected to the crankcase (or if the '97 blower on a '99 LIM is the issue). I've been considering blocking the PCV system all together and running a catch can off the oil cap. I'd like to not run a breather, but it's not totally out of the question.

Is there a writeup somewhere explaining everything needed to run a catch can setup? Obviously I can find catch can how-to's on Google, but I'm looking for a L67/top-swapped L36 specific write-up. Haven't found anything in the forum yet, but I'm still searching.

A refresh on the issue I'm having:

Whenever I build boost, I get raw oil in the intake/cylinders. It's enough to foul the plugs and cause a constant misfire on number 3 (I assume this is what's happening, as I can't think of anything else it could be. I've swapped injectors, plugs, wires, coils and the ICM). But either way, when I build boost, I'm getting raw oil into the intake, soaking the paper blower gasket.

I have a feeling you may want to find a 99+ gen III case. I have no idea how the PCV is routed, but if it's that different, perhaps it is the problem. PCV sounds right.

Hmmm. I do have a spare '99 case. Only reason I didn't use it is because the '97 one I have is ported.. Oh well, I'll have to swap it over one day.
