Ok so a guy i know has a 99gtp 2 door and just blew his engine, he rebuild with a comp cam dunno what one, stock pistons and bore, home ported heads and supercharger, aftermarket springs and rods, ported exhaust manifolds and 3" down pipe, cai, and zzp computer and he "clams a 2.8..."

im not a fan of this kid he is very cocky so i wana beat the crap out of him with my car lol.

I have about 2500-3000(give or take some) Canadian for budget, I have a 2007 grand prix gt, with headers, 3" down pipe ,cai,103 plugs, 180 tstat,overkill,and a 3.5 pulley and shift kit

I would love to be able to get into the 12.xx even if its 12.999999987. so im thinking start with a s1x cam with 105 springs, (maybe timing chain and rods?) about 6300-6400rpm shift points, stage 2 or maybe 3 zzp ic, fuel rail. going to get hp tuners, and maybe a 3.2 (playing it safe to start.) i belive this should be a good start and i would like to know every ones thoughts as to i will be ordering parts soon, as spring is on its way. please remember this is a daily driver and i would like it to stay that way just run in the 12's if possible.

Your running a 3.5" Pulley right now without headers? Also why are you not running autolite 104s?

He said he has headers in his post. The mods that you have planned with get you into the 12's, but don't let wanting to beat someone be the only reason to mod your car. Your money can be better spent elsewhere.

he is not the only reason to go faster as you can see from my mods i have been planing on having it run in the 12's from day one and last year i was not able to do any mods and this year i can. so its just kinda giving me a boost to do more and a challenge at the same time.

Is transmission work included anywhere in your budget? Most people just kind of choose to ignore the transmission and add power mods, then are confused and mad when it grenades and demod because they realize they have to pay to play. This is the first thing you need to upgrade if you want a daily driven 12's GP that will last. Im just saying because your budget is barely adequate for a properly built transmission that can sustain those power levels for any amount of time. Are you doing all the work yourself? If not, the cam alone will set you back over a grand. Just making sure you know what you're getting into.

i know a few people to install cam that owe me, i own my own business so that is taken care of and the transmission yes i know they suck balls but when she blow then it will get rebuild but im not going to touch it till i have problems .

lol just wait till he blows his engine again, he seems like one of those people. I wouldn't get into the "I have to beat him" mentality, doesn't lead to good things. Just rub it in his face that you have the uber sexy 04-08 GP :lol:

As for your budget, you can make a pretty quick car with that. A cam and an intercooler will definately set you up to where you want to be, just make sure you are scanning and retuning as needed. I believe if your running >3.4 you might need larger injectors and maf so take that into account. And as previously mentioned, your transmission will start to hate you after you are making a lot of power, but you could be fine for a while if you have low miles. How many miles are on the car?
