My check engine light came on and so i stoped at Advanced Auto to get it checked out and they hooked it up and told me 2 cylinders are misfiring. They told me to run some injector cleaner through it. does anybody have any other advice?

Find out which ones are misfiring and check the plugs, wires, coil of the cylinders in question. If they happen to be on the same coil that may very well be your problem. I have had bad coils do this in my car.

Yeah. Two cylinders probably makes it a coil. Determine the cylinders as stated above, and odds are, they are on the same coil. Replace it, and drive happy. :-)

Are the misfires coming from the same coil? If not, start with the cheap stuff first i.e. plugs, wires, then move to the coils. Any autoparts store should have these in stock but these are much less prone to failure over the first two suggestions.

You can swap things like coils, plugs, wires, injectors around to see if the misfire moves to another cylinder before you spend cash on items not needed. Just need a way to scan for codes.

This is why I suggest a Aerforce scan gauge for a first mod even if keeping car mostly stock.

That's strange, there should be a code for each individual cylinder indicating which one is which.

Unless it is a P0300. And if that's the case, they just guessed that two cylinders are misfiring. Definitely need the actual code number.

Morad Parts Company would be a good place to get stock used, working coils. Don't get MSD coils.

I had a similar random misfire problem with my car. I replaced the coils, plugs, wires, everything but the ICM. It only misfired at idle so I never bother to pursue the solution any further. good luck.

The actual code would be key to solving this, because any number of things can cause a misfire, but if it is really 2 cylinder missing and those 2 cylinders are on the same coil, than it's an easy solution. However, without the actual code and some guy at ricer zone (usually not the most qualified automotive people) saying that it was 2 cylinders missing, than the problem could caused by something.

Having said that, the coilpacks on these cars are pretty notorious for going bad. But a big thumbs up to Morads for getting replacements for a good price.

mine says random misfire and it also has a code for O2 sensor and someone told me the combo of the O2 and the cold here could b causing the misfire

Yeah, an o2 sensor could cause a misfire. My GF's 97 missed like crazy when getting on the power at about 3k rpm and it just through a o2 lean condition code and random multiple misfire code.

Just replaced the front bank o2 sensor and problem solved. I did change coil packs though a couple thousand miles afterwards when doing a tuneup just to be on the safe side though. It threw 3 codes, P0171 (lean condition) and the P0300 (Random multiple misfire), and a code for the MAF since I unplugged it to rule that out as the culprit.

Is your idle and everything else fine?

Found your problem :P

Haha no Dave's a good guy. Change the plugs, the wires, and coils. If that doesn't work, replace the ICM.

I'd start by replacing the front o2 sensor, as stated before, that could be part of your problem.

Don't get a Bosch sensor. AC Delco, Denso or NTK sensors are good.

Bosch wideband O2 sensors are great. Bosch narrowband (which is what these cars run off of) are horrible.
