I think it more or less boils down to time. Some people don't have the time to install things. So they pay a shop to do the work. Nothing wrong with it and its not like you get bous points at shows or the race track.

I agree it is very time consuming. I love working on my car and find it very satisfying solving the problems and issues. Unfortunately, I would like to do more, and would do so if I knew anyone locally that could help me....lets say....install headers on a random Saturday in March! :)

Unfortunately, I also have the worst luck since even some simple jobs become a pain when things just do not go quit right. Good thing I do not work in Vegas!

So I go to the shop for some of the big jobs.
At least I can bitch at them if things are not right :)

Idk about you guys, but Im 6' 5" and my back has never been the greatest, but after a few hours working underneath the hood its completely shot and hurts for days after.

I shelled out the $$ for a shop to do my headers, as I didnt have the time and I have a shit hand-me-down set of tools. I think half the time spent on working on my car is just looking for damn socketssss.
