I have an L67 with a pretty much shot Gen III. i found a good price on a GenV with matching LIM. I'm running a 3.4MPS on the GenII. can i swap my MPS over to the GenV snout? can i just swap snouts instead so as not to need a pulley puller?
Will I have to upgrade my injectors to run a 3.4 on a GenV?
Will i need anything besides a Lim and blower to make it work on my L67, such as fuel rails, etc?

what other mods do you have? a 3.4 on a Gen V is like a 3.25 on a Gen III

the MPS will swap over the snouts will not

Assuming you don't really have many mods. Id run the stock pulley on the gen v till you got more mods. What mater said is right. Also you don't need bigger injectors with just swapping over to a gen v unless you are cammed exc.

1.9's and Fender well intake are the only other mods.
Gen III is P&P but the case bearings are shot and the rotor pack is toast.

You definitely need to open up that exhaust like they've said. I wouldn't even run a 3.4 on a Gen III w/o opening up the exhaust. That's too big of a risk of grenading the motor.

Yeah, you need more mods to run a gen V with a 3.4. Also, you'll need a throttle body adapter to run a Gen V with a cable controlled L67 TB.

is the GenV more prone to KR? will i be making as much heat with a 3.4 on a genV as i would with a 3.25 with a genIII? the blower is starting to sound like a step backwards.

In a heat per unit flow way of thinking about it (SCIENCE!!!!!), the Gen V is way more efficient and less prone to KR than a Gen III. The way you just tried to describe it is like comparing apples to oranges. Simply saying a smaller pulley makes more power is a completely false due to all the other factors being neglected.

Also, P&Ped front manifold could hold you back since it will be a restriction especially with stock rear mani and stock DP, so headers would be a great solution and leave more breathing room (I made a pun haha) for future mods.

so your saying that 3.4" would be a bad idea on a GenV at this level, not because of the heat, but because the rest of the system cant support that much boost?

I'd put headers on before trying to drop pullies. With the current prices of headers, it's silly not to take that route and will offer safer operation and gains.

What he is saying is, a Gen V is a good idea. Just its not a good idea to drop in pulley sizes until you get some more exhaust mods, i.e. headers. I wouldn't go past a 3.6 pulley until i installed a set of headers. With your mods, headers, and most importantly a good tune you could run a 3.4 on a Gen V. Do you have a scanner?? If not i would suggest you get one.

^^Yeah, sorry if I was unclear about Gen V being a benefit. And yes a good tune and scan scan scan!!!!!

What Tom was trying to say before to back this up, is the supporting mods required to run a GenV 3.4 is similar to the supporting mods required to run a GenIII with a 3.25. Again, bigger pulley number of GenV doesn't automatically equal less power compared to a GenIII, in fact it means more thus requires more supporting mods to run safely.

^^^Absolutely listen to what these guys are telling you. Even without a Gen V, headers are a good mod to do for a GTP. Gen V is the better blower. You'll enjoy the extra whine as well. I know I do.
