Hey guys,
I have my seeping oil pan gasket and it hit me today on my way home; it costs $700 to replace and that can be new tires problem solved! How difficult would it be to remove the engine from the car myself to redo my oil pan gasket? The one thing I'm worried about is taking it off the tranny if I have to. Anyone know of any write ups that would help me out? I want to take the engine out because I'd like to maybe do the timing chain if I had the chance.

Thanks in advance guys!

you should not have to remove the whole engine to do the pan gasket. that would be alot more work than needed. if anything i would jack up the car and pull the sub frame or see if it can be done without removing the motor or sub frame. i have my car in the air all the time at work but i never really looked at that. the easiest way would definantly be to remove the sub frame though if need be.

you can get an engine support bar to put on top of your vehicle and drop the sub frame cuz you'd have to get the passenger side motor mount lowered a little to get the pan out

X2 thats all it entails....obviously unbolting the struts is a must as well.

IIRC, there are a couple of bolts that you can't get to with the transmission attached to the engine.
