so i finally got the time (and the courage) to install my ssic. everything went pretty smoothly until the end. i went to fill my fuel lines my turning the key and fuel started leaking out of the top of the injectors. i pushed them down a little more and got them to seal a little better to the point where they dont leak too much and started the car. (dumb decision i know but i was out of time at my shop) well i ended up having a lot of misfires. but not in all cylinders. just cylinders 1 and 2. now heres what i think. i went the cheap route and tried to customize my stock set of fuel rails. the fuel lines i extended them with did not leak. but i had to cut off the two clips by the end of the rails by cylinders 1 and 2 for fitment reasons. now the injectors on cylinders 1, 2, 3, and 4 were the ones that were leaking. could it be possible that since the two nuts arent on that side to hold the fuel rails in place better that the fuel pressure is pushing down to go through the injector and in turn is actually pushing the rails up enough to make the injector o-rings not seat properly. if anyone else has done this or has any ideas on how to solve this problem i'm open to hear it. thanks. oh also i only have the misfires at idle. when i'm driving i have none.

I've never worked on these engines but I just helped my friend fix the same problem on his 3400. It was as simple as one of the O-rings was bad on the top of the injector where it plugs into the rail. I understand what you are describing but I wouldn't know if that's why your injectors are leaking but it sounds plausible.

yeah you might want to pull the injector out and re-seat the o-rings. also, good rule of thumb to dab a bit of oil on the o ring to slide it in the fuel rail easier. i recently installed my 42.5 lb injectors and didn't seat injector 1 properly. same thing happened, fuel sprayed everywhere. popped it out and reseated it and everything runs fine

Always, always, always, replace the injector O rings and lube them a little when you have to remove them. ost O rings, gaskets and seals are not reusable.

if your seeing misfires you more than likely have a VAC leak or your gaskets didnt seal in between the LIM and IC and S/C

Buy some new rails and use the spacers or buy the PRJ rails or ZZP rails. Hack jobs are short cuts that come back and bite you in the butt.

You have vac leaks and they are during WOT as well. They just won't be as noticeable. I'm willing to bet your peak is under the snout where The SSIC and LIM meet. It's a SSIC it's gonna leak. Hop over on clubgp and do a search with thread starter slow6. Search for SSIC l. I posted a how to on resolving that shittys intercoolers leak.

Better yet throw that intercooler in the garbage and get a real one. I hate to be harsh but it's the worst intercooler you can buy.
