Last Sunday I was driving home from dropping my kids off, I was just cruising and I heard and felt the car chugging I looked at the boost gauge and the needle was bouncing. I was low on fuel so I stopped at the first exit. I was hoping I was just out of fuel. I pulled in to the station popped the hood and checked for loose wires or low oil. nothing I start it up and sounded like a popcorn machine. I shut it down and pulled the oil fill cap and saw something that didnt look right. I called everyone I know and nobody had a trailer so I had it towed home. I had it in the garage for maybe 20 mins and we had the front valve cover off. and found this waiting for me

I ordered a new spring thru summit and per PRJ advice I checked the valve height off the other valves with a straight edge and all the same height, but when the top round snapped off it slide down and chewed up the valve seal, so I have to wait for PRJ to come back from his trip to Cali. Then I will be back on the road. I am glad I heard it right away and stopped before I trashed the motor or even bent a valve.

What caused this? Bad spring? Are they stock or aftermarket?

They are comp cam 105#

Not sure why I know comp cams had some failure with the 105#
