I got a scangauge II from my wife the other day. I have been driving around trying to get some data and was really excited when I was showing no kr. I've been watching the timing, air intake temp, boost psi and kr. All was well and good until this evening on the way home from work I got stuck behind a slow moving truck going up a steep hill and I really lugged the engine and it flashed 2.1 kr for a brief second until it downshifted and picked up some rpms. Thats the only time it has shown any kr, I was hoping to be ready to drop the pully a little but I guess I'll have to try and get this stopped first. I think I might be due for some new plugs so I'll try that first. Anyway it's nice to be able to see whats going on so far I like it.

Getting KR like that is absolutely fine. When you lug the engine, it's gonna happen. Basically, it is outside of normal operation parameters, so I wouldn't worry about it, really.

Cool I get zero kr at wot. Still gonna change the plugs though. What sort of timing should I be seeing at Wot?

Stock timing is usually arounf 15*, it is normal to get some KR during shifts due to the torque management. That why some people turn it down or just turn it off completely.

WOT timing varies depending on your tune, and all that stuff. I got away with 20* at WOT with a Gen3, 3.4", stock mani's, and 3" exhaust. Your mileage WILL vary, depending on the health of the engine, elevation, and all kinds of stuff.

It's locked in at 17 wot with Will's tune. Also I'm trying to program the gauge to watch ltft and stft but there's codes for four different banks, do I need all four? If so which ones do I need to watch?

Locking in at 17 is BAD. It needs to lock in at 0. You want B1S1...Bank One Sensor One.

I meant timing locked at 17 wot. Still haven't set the gauge up for fuel trims.

BTW I love that volvo. What are your plans for it?

Getting 17* of timing at WOT isn't bad. I have no plans for the Volvo. Gotta fix a couple holes in the floorboards, and I'll just maintain it until I get something better. Been looking at Mercedes diesels lately.

!7* of timing advance at WOT with no KR is pretty good. Running up past 20-21* is pretty much useless, at that point you're better off to drop back to 18* of timing and drop a pulley size.
