Okay so I thought I was done with this problem but I guess the cold weather only disguised it. When I run my car for a little bit or for a long time I will turn it off and then when I want to start it up again it won't start. I always have to end up waiting about 30 to 45 minutes depending on how much it was run until it cools down and then it will start again.

I don't really know what this is and what is causing this.

So far, I know it can't be any of these because I barely changed them;
- Spark plugs
- fuel filter

What I am thinking is that it may be any of these or something else I don't know;
- fuel pump
- spark plug wires

Anyone have any input on this? Anyone with a similar problem or has dealt with a similar problem? When my car is cool it will start up really fast and like a champ.

My dad had a similar issue with a 2007 Saab 9-3 Aero. His ended up being a bad injector. (?) I don't know for sure if that would do it, so I'd wait to hear what other people say.

I hear about this problem pretty often but can't find any threads with a solution. If I come across something I'll be sure to post a link.

Just spit ballin' here, but IAC? What you're describing sounds like the issue the 04+'s have with the throttle plate not opening up enough when dirty causing them to not want to start after warmed up.

Pure guess, but it's cheap and easy enough to check out and clean.

That sounds familiar, but I think there was something else about the 97-03's that caused the same problem.

Air, fuel, spark. Just go down the list until one isn't present ;-)

This is true, but we all know you can't kill a 3800 :tongue:
Unless you throw on a small pulley with no supporting mods :mrgreen:

You can try bypassing the fuel pump resistor, and see if the problem goes away: Fixing your intermittent stalling problem!

Aside from that, the next time it cranks and doesn't start, pull off a spark plug wire and check it for spark. Could be a faulty ignition control module or crankshaft position sensor.

Oh god, that darn crank sensor. Argh. Nightmare of my life trying to diagnose that on my girlfriends dad's LeSabre.

I just replaced the original CPS, ICM, and coil packs on the Park Avenue last week, after the car started sputtering and losing power about two miles from home. I managed to pull into my driveway, then I shut it off and checked for spark. No spark. Since I already had a spare ignition module, I bought the CPS and coil packs, and now the car's running better than ever. :cool:

Hmm, now I remember about a year or more ago I was stuck in a gas station with this issue. A mechanic came and he took off one of the spark plug wires, it began to spark (don't remember if it was sparking before he took it off or not) and then the car started up. I just wanted to get home asap so I don't remember how exactly he did it, what he did, and if I was cranking it or not while he was doing this. I don't even remember what he told me after it started up concerning the reasons this might be happening.
