I left mine in, I couldn't be bothered to possibly cause another issue to arise. It doesn't hurt anything being left alone.... And we all know that old saying.

Mater, that thing is still chillen im there

If you take it out don't forget to put something on the rear part as there is an oil passage back there and you don't want to be loosing that much pressure we pit a freeze plug that happened to fit in there.
