My boss just bought a superchips for his escalade and loves it. is there anything like that for the gtp's? I plan on dumping abunch of money on performance parts into the gtp this summer and would like to be able to have that extra advantage. but ive seen like the hp tuners and I know nothing about tuning a vehicle . . .

Yeah, it's called HP tuner suite, haha.

DO NOT buy one of those things for your GTP. The only thing those are good for is trucks. You'd be better off finding a local member to tune your car or buying tuning software and learning how to use it.

Probably not. The ECM on an '89 is OBD-I, and they likely have a removable PROM chip. The HP Tuner won't be able to do anything with it.

The Superchips tuner works great on my G8 which is a car, so that statement is wrong. As far as I know it won't tune a GTP though.

I would go with hptuners if you are interested in learnintg to tune your vehicle. It does not come with preset tunes. You have to do all the alterations yourself. There is a learning curve but it does have forum support to help you out.

no all they really do is change gear ratio and tire changes and adjust timing a varry little amount.

you would be better off getting a can tune PCM from ZZP or other vender if you really do not want a tuner

The Superchips tuner does a lot more than that. It amazes me how people can say something about a product they never used.

Generally speaking though Don, a tuning suite like HP tuners id going to give better results on any vehicle and you know that is true. I've seen tons of good things about ships for diesel trucks, and not much else. They may work well for your G8 but your G8 doesn't use a heat pump of a s/c with no intercooler to make power either. What I do know is that using one for a GTP is a horrible idea and that's what the OP needs to know.

i have used it was not impressed. when i worked at the dealer a costomer wanted me to tune his truck using one. after using HPT and DHP powrtuner. it really does varry little and after installing the program i felt no change at all. the customer thought the truck was compleatly diffrent though.

diesels are diffrent. with a diesel you just have them dump in a crap ton of fuel and they go like stink. diesels are awsome to mod you just need fuel and air. also nitrus is the best power adder for a diesel as well you could put in a 200 jet and do no damage the extra nitrus just exits out the exhuast
