So I got my stuff together for my fwi, pretty excited. So far this is my plan. Im gonna utilize the stock rubber hose that connects the t/b to the MAF, just cut it to shorten it. I have a thick rubber 3" to 4" hose to connect the 4" pvc. The MAF fits perfectly into the 3" inlet, like thats what it was made for. It looks like I need about 16" to 17" of pvc. The cone filter I have is about 9.5" long and has a 4" inlet. Ill figure out how to seal it all after everything is in place and I see how far I can get the cone in the fender. Any suggestions or does this all seem right? It seems pretty easy.

Made my own FWI, 3.5" exhaust piping, 45* elbow, K&N filter. 3.5" too small for a GTP?

Believe me, mine's a screamer too. Just went with 3.5" since that's the size of the stock elbow.

so I got everything cut and fit together. Man it was a pain in the ass. I couldve been the poster boy for "dont try this at home." I thought Id hafta use over a ft of tubing, but the filter is so damn big Im only using about 3". It kinda looks like all rubber tubing, almost like a stock peice with a cone filter on the end, but I managed to not use any more than about a 30 degree turn ay most. As soon as I get it painted Ill post pics. I did start it up though and damn the blower screamed. It was awesome. Does anyone have pics of thier homemade stuff?

This is mine, but its not a FWI. Since then I have made a box for it so its a CAI not HAI, got a 98+ coolant bottle, and got the PCM outta the way.

So its finished. Its not gonna win a beauty contest, but it works good and sounds good. I can feel a little improvement in acceleration, Ill know for sure once we thaw and I can get past 2nd withot hitting the TC. I may see about redoing some stuff if I get better ideas, but its a learning process. So is it my imagination, but do most of the CAIs in these pics not have MAFs? Or am I just missing them. I looked up the Speedbuilt FWI and the how-to install and it says nothing about it in there. WTF?

Made my own FWI.

I have a 9" K&N open cone filter tucked away nicely inside the fender cavity.
A 4" 45* bent piece of diesel exhaust pipe as my main tube, that I powder coated red.
A 4" to 3.5" hump hose connector for the LS1 MAF sensor.
Another 3.5" to 4" hump hose connector from the MAF to the LS1 throttle body.
I drilled a hole in the intake tube, and mounted my IAT sensor right in the 45* bend of the intake pipe.

With the filter, 4" tube, the powder coating, and the hump hoses and stainless steel clamps, I think I have around $80.00 or $100.00 in my intake.

^those are pictures of how it kinda looks today, as I added a carbon fiber coolant resv. over on that side and got rid of the one on the left strut tower so I would have more room to change the #2 plug, and get the belts on.

This is what it looked like after I got it done, and ran it for a few years.
