I installed a 5" monster Tach. when I first got my GTP back in 2001. Scanning the car, the factory tach. was waaaaaaaaay off. I connected the signal wire for the tach. off the ICM wire. I believe it was PIN E, or PIN H. I installed the tach. right infront of the factory tach. I have a picture somewhere...I could dig it out and show ya if you really want to see it.

Later, I figured out how to open up the instrument cluster, and "adjust" the needle on the tach. so now it reads correctly. Removed the 5" tach. and kept it, and plan to install it in my '95 Sonoma when the procharged, stroker LT1 and T56-6 speed go in it. :twisted:

Hope that helps.

For the code...

Potential Symptoms

Symptoms of a P0118 could include:

* Very poor fuel economy
* A no start condition
* Vehicle may start, but run very poorly, blowing black smoke, running very rough and misfiring
* Illumination of MIL

Causes

A code P0118 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

* A bad connection at the sensor
* An open in the ground circuit between the ECT sensor and the PCM
* A short in the voltage feed between the sensor and the PCM
* A bad PCM (less likely)
* A bad temperature sensor (shorted internally)
