How hard it is to replace one of these. There's a 98 GTP that I'm looking at. I generally don't use AC but if I have an passengers then I prefer for them to be comfortable. One of the guys in my unit and I carpool. We take turns doing the driving and the other pitches in on fuel. So if I were to get this GTP I'd want to fix the AC even if just for when I do the driving (far more fuel efficient than the Camaro or the truck). Guy says it needs a compressor. I'll try to take a closer look at it later this week but the seller sounds pretty sure about it. That's the one thing I've never had to replace before on a typical motor.

Yeah I was wondering about it myself Tom. When I look at it I'll have to ask who he had looking at it to come to that conclusion. May ask if I can have somone of my choice look at it.

I've had my compressor fail before. R-143A was leaking from where the hose went into the compressor. Had to replace the compressor/drier/orifice for the warranty.

My clutch is dead, but if there's no charge in my system, I probably will have to replace mine as well. :(

Side question... How hard is it to replace just the clutch?

not sure never had to do on a GP but i do know in a shop situation on most cars it would be cheaper to replace the compressor as a unit

I'm not sure. However, the cost to either replace the whole unit or just the clutch itself is almost the same (at least that's what I've been told by the mechanic). I think he tried to replace the clutch only first, but realized that it would have been easier to just replace the whole unit.

I've been told that. But $600 isn't in the cards... $55 is. If I can do it myself, I WILL.

found you why it's the same cost... the compresser has to be removed to change the clutch
