Posted this on clubgp, but I need as much help as I can get. On a warm start, you can hear the AC clutch rattling a little but. Then after 10-15 seconds it kicks on and bogs the RPM a little. The climate control is off the entire time too BTW. If I turn the AC on, it's already on so it blows cold air. Turn the AC but leave the fans on, the AC still stay on and cold air is still coming out. If I turn off the climate control, it's the same, still on, won't shut off.

Also, the car was running hot and noticed the AC fan wasn't coming on, and it sparked as a screwdriver touch the fan motor and headers, so I figured there was an internal short. I changed the fans with a used one from morad with 52k. I started the car and put the AC on, and the AC fan worked. Well sweet, no more overheating, UNTIL I was driving today and noticed the temperature rising. Now the car still has the problem with the AC sticking on sometimes, so I figured the fan must not be kicking on. So I turned the AC on in the car to signal the PCM to start the fans. I pull over and check it, AC fan is not on, and the car temp is around 200 by this time. I go home and restart it, fan still doesn't come on, just spins very slowly.

So i'm back to square one. The car is running hot because the AC is stick on and the goddamn fan isn't kicking on. WTF is wrong with this car it's beginning to piss me off! the lack of power, shitty gas mileage, and overheating is getting to me!

Chris,

Sounds like the AC relay went bad or the AC Clutch/SOL Fuses - this does happen from time to time. You can locate these items under the engine fuse box - AC Clutch Fuse - 13, ABS SOL - 19, AC Comp Relay - 38

If you need a quick fix you can disconnect the harness connected to the AC compressor and that will disable the clutch. Also if the AC is on and is not blowing cold air you could be low or empty on the R134. The recharge kits arent to bad for repair but a AC system flush is normally the best.

I had a somewhat similar issue. My blower motor started running in the "off" position. Turn the car off, fan's still going (WTF?)... so I pulled the BLW HI fuse and that fixed the fan until I can get a new blower motor resistor.

It does sound like a relay to me.

Pulled all the AC fuses, AC still come on 10-15 seconds after startup. Going to try unplugging the harness now.

Also scanned the car. PCM sees the AC compressor off when it's turned off (Compressor still running though). And when I turn the AC on, is recognizes it as on. So when the AC is set off, it's still stays on, but the PCM thinks that it's off. When I turn it on, it was already on to begin with so it's on, so the PCM see it on. Pretty much the PCM readings are normal, except the AC just never shuts off.

Also the r134 is fine, cause the air coming out is cold. I'm going to see if we can hook up the AC machine and make sure the low side and high side pressures are within spec.

This is frustrating.

EDIT: And the AC fan comes on when I shut the car off, so it's obviously working. Why isn't it turning on when I turn the AC on then?

Sounding like the relay is bad.

Pulled the relay along with the fuses and it still comes on. We're thinking it's the AC pressure sensor/switch. Checking it tomorrow.

Did you ever figure this out? I have the same exact problem. I have tried replacing the fuzes and relays mentioned above. AC Compressor fan stays on and kills my battery. (I have to disconnect battery before I go to bed every night, which is pretty annoying).
