I have an old Grand Prix store #1 cam Its a small cam around the size of a VS. Before I go to a bigger cam in a year or 2 I still want to get this into the low 12s. This year I will be swapping out my Short stack intercooler for a full size unit and either going to a gen 5 or ported gen 3 and LIM and e85 if I ever get my injectors I bought off another forum 2 months ago.

So will 1.7 roller rockers help or not? I have heard a lot of arguments that they hurt performance but pure numbers you would think more lift would help.

I think it would help. The extra lift will give the effect of a smaller cam. Just make sure you have enough clearance to run the rockers without making contact with the valve guides.

What is the max lift we can have on stock heads?

I think I am ok on the intake side but exhaust isn't going to work.

See with my calculations I would be sitting at .5525" on exhaust . Intake .5355" with 1.7 rockers. So its cutting it close. If I remember correctly Intense sells modded retainers that give the most clearance which is .045 more then comps.

i would say you would be fine with modded retainers then just rotate the engien by hand first and check for binding

Well I guess I will give it a shot. The ones Intense sells have give more clearance then ZZP's comp moddeds by .045". I talked to Brent last year about it and he thought that it would work.
I need more speed!!
