You're not. It isn't in the service schedule anywhere. It's supposed to be a "lubed for life" kind of deal. They aren't kidding you...no kidding. Common sense goes a long ways, though.

Nope. There's no place for it to leak, or anything. When I replaced my snout at 120,000 miles, the oil level was just a little below the fill hole...right where it should be.

I will change mine once a year.. I actually changed it twice this year, once in May when I took off the snout to replace the coupler and again just a few weeks ago because I wanted to see what kind of condition the light/clear/odor free S/C oil was in.... well it was in dark stinky condition, lol maybe that's normal and maybe it gets that way really fast, I dunno.

You can change it by getting a sprayer from a spray bottle, find one with the thickest hose piece, open the drain plug (hex key on top the snout), put sprayer on "stream" and start pumping it into a bottle, it will stink! keep pumping until no more comes out, reposition it to make sure you get as much as possible out. Then fill with 2 bottles of GM s/c oil, 2 bottles should put it just under the threads. The old oil will stink so be prepared and wash your hands after.

Once a year is a pretty good interval. Get yourself two bottles when you suck it out, and be sure to wear some latex gloves. That stuff is hard to get off your hands!

I was able to get a GM tac advisor to say that he had heard that it should be changed every 30,000 miles.

Yup. I do mine and the GF's every year regardless of miles.

Eaton and GM both want you to end up replacing your supercharger, cause the Eaton wants to charge the dealership for the rebuild, and GM wants to rape you on the installment.

Service it yearly, and enjoy.

I will be changing mine once a year. Theres something reassuring by taking out oil that is the same color as coffee then putting in oil that is clear.....you know?

I intend to do it soon because I already have the oil. I believen in preventive maintenance especially for such a critical piece in the engine bay.

What is the diameter of the fill hole? My dad has a suction gun that I would think should work better than a sprayer.

I'm due for a change now. I plan on changing it every 30,000 miles, but it usually ends up being more since I put miles on my car so quickly.

I'll pass on GMParts......almost $13 to ship So almost $20...Not me!!!
(And ZZP say you need at least 1-1/2 bottles)

ZZp's are a bit cheaper on eBay... (even cheaper if you buy 10 bottles....check out their store)

I guess I should have mentioned this before. In order to fill the s/c with oil, you will need 2 bottles of oil. When the oil reaches the bottom of the threads on the fill plug then the s/c is full.

just do it. when you take that old oil out and see how bad it smells and how dirty it is you will not regret doing it. the new oil is clear like water. Clean>Dirty.

theres probably some kind of miscommunication on the matter between GM, Eaton and the Dealerships. With the way GM does business I'm not surprised.

Just changed mine. Good lord the smell is one of a kind. Two bottles went in but definitely two bottles didn't come out. The used oil looked slightly yellower than engine oil. The new oil that went in was crystal clear.
