Tonight while driving was the first time I noticed my heads-up display having some issues. It went from being bright to dimming down, then brightening back up, dimming down, dimming completely out, brightening up a little, dimming out again, brightening fully back, etc. I'm just wondering how these displays work because if it goes out I'd like to sort of know what I'm up against as far as work to fix and the cost as well.

at worst you can replace the unit. (not that hard) but there is a spot of solder that gets weak and causes a bad connection and acts as you have described, but i forget where it is that needs to be fixed.

Thanks for the link, it sounds like a rather easy fix.
