Hey there,

I have an 04 Grand Prix GTP and my front door hinge mechanism kinda grinds when I open and close the door. We had a huge rain storm last week and i think the door hing got wet and rusted a bit. I tried to lube it with white lithium grease but that did not help. Any ideas?

Thanks.

I would think it would take longer than week for it to rust from that 1 event. Chances are that its been coming. WD-40. WD literally stands for water displacement. If nothing else this will prevent rust on other doors.

I usually use WD40 or a little PB blaster.

WD40 works for me. I had to use it for the first time on my 05 this year and the driver door has yet to make any noise.

I've been using Finish Line chain lube [you'll find it at your local bicycle shop].
I use the green label bottle.
WD works great, but if it drips it will mess up the strip that seals to the bottom of the doors - you'll see it when you open the doors.
The Finish Line stuff is great for the locking mechanism too.

rust will not just be created over one storm unless maybe bare metal then I could see it doing that but if its bare metal and you didnt take care of it yet thats kinda crazy

Hey there!

It does not seem to be a problem now.....
.......despite my lack of care for my cars door hinges :)
