So after installing my roller rockers and replacing the coolant elbows while in there and everything I can not for the life of me get this damn thing bled out of all the air. The heat is far from hot and with winter fast approaching I need to get this done soon. Any tips, tricks or advice?

Run heat on full blast, let car idle (or rev it some to speed up the process) till warmed up so that the thermostat opens, open bleeder screw till steady stream of coolant comes out, done. If you want to be super cautious, let the engine cool down and repeat the cycle again.

I have done that like 3 different times and get no air just a steady stream, but the heat is far from hot and it worked fine before I drained some coolant to install my roller rockers.

Yeah engine temps are fine, just the heat doesn't get hot. And I popped the radiator cap just to make sure and the coolant is full.

Are both hoses going to the heater core warm?

Pop the Tstat housing off and see if the lower intake is filled to the brim with coolant. I had a similar problem with mine and it would not fill the lower by adding to the radiator, had to fill the lower intake from the tstat first, then bleed out the system. My symptoms were the same as yours are.

I'll have to check out your suggestions when I get home tonight. Thanks for the tips. I'll update after I look at it.

Popped off the tstat housing and it was full, tried bleeding again with no change.

The top heater hose gets hot but not the bottom one.

uhoh if the top is hot and bottom isn't you're not getting flow. How bad was your coolant? Dex-cool strikes again?!

You're probably not going to want to do this, but take the supply line and return line off the heater core and try to blow air through it.

Interested to see what is wrong with this one haha!

The coolant does need to be flushed but I haven't noticed any crazy dex cool sludge or signs of it yet. At least not signs of lots of it, but the coolant is dirty and old enough to need to go. I am going to hope for decent weather for my drive upstate this weekend and flush the whole thing out when I get to my parents house and see if that helps.

You have an air pocket stuck in your heater core. A buddy of mine told me if/when this happens, get the car to sit on a hill, engine being the highest point, it will help when bleeding the screw.

I hope so. When I flushed it over the weekend there was no obvious signs of sludge. I will try the hill trick tomorrow morning and report back the results.
