Just curious as to which oil is better for our cars. I have an 04 GT and currently use Mobil 1 Full Synthetic oil ... I've heard good about royal purple i believe it is, but Castrol just released their Edge synthetic oil. Just curious as to what everybody's input is, and which brand would be the best.

any full synthetic oil is better then convential oil so you can't realy go wrong with a synthetic
I've used Mobil 1 and got good results with a blackstone labs report, next oil change Amsoil is going in then get a blackstone labs report done on that as well and see how it goes

I use Mobil 1 in the Volvo. Ran Royal Purple in the Cutlass. I may use Amsoil in the Volvo before too long.

I ran 10W30 Conv. Valvoline for one time because I didn't have ramps so I had a place do it... Highest MPG I got was 27.

Then I changed it myself to Valvoline synthetic 5-w and my MPG went up to 30! I'll stick with it.

I use Valvoline and Walmart Synthetic. From information i have seen, the Walmart Brand is almost the same as Mobile 1 and a few others. With that being the case i have used Waltmart Synthetic and Valvoline full synthetic once in a while. I tried royal purple may be a good oil but in terms of performance or the way it ran, i did not notice anything different.

I don't drive my car hard and hardly every at the track, so i save up my money the Walmart stuff. Someone did an oil analysis of the Walmart oil and it had good number after its use.

Castrol Syntec FTW. Love that shit. 119,000 miles (total, not since last change lol, like 1500 since) and it idles so smooth I can barely tell it's running... You know, except for that damn exhaust leak...

I've got the new Castrol EDGE. Excellent stuff! Picked up 2mpg city and 4 highway with it! And my car idles smoother and starts better.

Although $50 oil changes are gonna suck! I think its worth every penny tho.

Scott, ^^^ there you have it. I hear great things, but I'm sticking with the standard Syntec for cheapo reasons.

Valvoline here. Looking at castrol next. I just saw "Change Oil Soon" on the DIC for the first time in approx 50,000miles of ownership. Total 65,000 miles. I'm a little suspicious because I only have about 4,000 on this oil and I have gone 6-9000 multiple times w/o seeing the message.

Mobil 1 10w-30 in the GT. Valvoline never let me down in previous 2 cars.

It really comes down to preference I think, and how much money you have to spend.

I used Mobil 1 Synthetic for the longest time (no problems) but last oil changed I did I changed over to Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic (cheaper) and its been running the same as when I had Mobil 1 Synthetic.

I guess Mobil 1 charges more because they advertise more than Pennzoil does.

But I made the mistake of buying a FRAM oil filter..thanks to a buddy of mine, I guess from what I read their oil filters suck royal ass, and was told just to stick with the stock oil filter (ACDelco) I believe.
