I thought I would share some of the pictures I took through the Texas panhandle. My wife and I started in Shamrock Tx and followed on Route 66 until we arrived in Adrian, Tx. It wasn't just vacation, but an experience I will never forget. Thanks for the kicks 66, see you next year.

At the Magnolia gas station in Shamrock Texas.

Shown in the photo below is the 1932-era classic restored 66 Super Service Station in Alanreed Texas:

As luck would have it coming in to Wildorado an abandoned Shoneys sits. Here at Fort Wildorado will be our Charity cruise group photo.

The famous Mom and Pop Vega Motel (Vega Texas) was a sight to see. It had that old town feel.

Another photo op at an abandoned cafe in Landergin.

This was just a small portion of all the pics we took. [;)]

66 is awesome, you should try huntsville sometime if you havent already, lots of old time stores and the prices of stuff is really cheap. Theres a soda pop cafe me and wife went to, we got 2 coke floats a huge ice cream cone and she bought a pound of some good homemade candy/fudge, our bill was 9$. Theres also the same houston memorial/museum and a prison museum. Also the George H Bush(senior not junior) museum in college station, youd be surprised at all the stuff he did.

Very cool I'll have to put that on my bucket list for sure.

The conco tower above was used as the inspiration for the body shop. Not pictured but we also stopped in Adrian Texas at the Midpoint Cafe which was the inspiration for Flos cafe in the movie.

Have you thought about completing it next year? I have planned a charity(www.dfwcharityracing.com) cruise on Route 66 next June. We will start in Dallas drive to Shamrock Texas then take Route 66 all the way to Adrian. The cruise will span over 2 nights and 3 days. Once we get to Adrian we will be coming back to Dallas, but you guys could stay on 66 all the way to the Santa Monica pier. ;)

Damn you! Makes me wish I was living in the US!!!! Nice car and the wheels look great.

Blackwood, know what you mean about the film "Cars", I thought of that, too, from the pics.

It's a shame that a lot of those "real" businesses are either kept alive as tourist traps or are abandoned or even GONE. So sad. Now its all about the interstate. I like going the "back way" now and again. Especially if it is a nice summer day.

Some people like to take the Post Road - US 1 - from Boston all the way to Florida as a way to see the East Coast.

Nice job, slow6!
